Hi my name is ted and I am the ceo/owner of the nor-cal prop club I would like to clear up this issue of calling the luscombe a HACK. This is what I have done to get and fly this plane. #1 www.Fsimcafe downloaded as freeware from this site. #2 unzipped and pre installed gauges into panel. #3 removed 2004 scenery from folder as to not change fsx #4 Bill Lyons in my opinion is the greatest sim designer that we have for fs and I do not disrespect any files from any aurthor ever. just place proper folders in right location so that people who dont no how can enjoy these files as we have. I would not be here explaining myself if I thought I was doing wrong. And the luscomb cfg was not touched thats the way I found it at Fsimcafe I am still trying to contact bill lyons to make sure that this file is freeware and thats how I found it is as freeware

I was not aware that Fsimcafe had any of Bill's files for download. There are only two sites that Bill uploaded to: Flightsim.com and Avsim.com. If you download the Luscombe from either of those sites you can compare the cfgs and make your own judgement. The panel cfg has most definitely been modified. Bill has retired from Flight simming and can only be contacted in one way. That is through me. The files are indeed copyrighted freeware. Due to the nature of the model the Luscombe is not and cannot be fully compatible with FSX SP2/Acceleration. That being said, enjoy the Luscombe but do Bill the courtesy of asking before repackaging any more of his aircraft. Repaints are already OK'd for everything except the Graf Zeppelin.

I would like to ask one thing seems how you have contact with mr lyons, is that if the tri pacer could possibly be upgraded so that the textures on the outer part of the plane would not show the blacked out portions . also as a note the original file on the luscombe was not touched but the members including myself at nor-cal all have repaired the prop blur and works great with sp2. only prob is a coulple of small areas in the panel are transparent but barely visible. I just wish that the apatche would work with fsx but i think it is to far gone. nice site by the way I will be sure to let our other members know about it ted aka wreckerman nor-calpropclub@hotmail.com www.freewebs.com/wreckerman/

To change the textures would require Bill to come out of retirement, remap the airplane or remodel it, and upload the "fix" to the sites he has it posted out. Keyword here is retired. I don't see Bill doing that. As an alternative, but I do not know if it will work in FSX, is a nice little Tri Pacer by Brian Gladden.

Don is correct. Bill has retired, the modeling tools have been removed from his computer. The source code has been stored away and Bill is enjoying R/C aircraft. There will be no changes to any model, no updating to FSX for any plane. What is available at avsim and flightsim (the ONLY places Bill uploaded to) is what there is and what there will be.

The file in question appears to have been removed from flightsim.com
