One of my favorite general aviation planes is Digital Aviation's Cheyenne - easy to fly with classic good looks, fast, and detailed throughout including its flying characteristics. I started a short flight a couple of weeks ago from Charleston, SC to Daytona Beach and was initially going to stop there, but then continued on to Cape Canaveral, Miami, and Key West - then Tampa, Pensacola, New Orleans, and then decided to circumnavigate (if that's the right term) the entire US border - outside looking in, so to speak. Here's a few shots as we (yes, the Redhead is in the back - been on the phone with her mother almost the whole time) flew over Corpus Christi, TX . . . [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] Great view of the Gulf [a href=" "] [/a] Love those wing tip tanks [a href=" "] [/a] Mexico [a href=" "] [/a] Now, up the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo [a href=" "] [/a] For a flight that never really was planned, one of those " let's see what's on the other side" type, this is becoming more interesting as it goes along - from a geographical point of view anyway, so I'll continue to post shots in the 'Flights, Adventures and Missions' forum - since now it's become more of an 'adventure' then anything else. Who knows where and what will be seen along the way . . . Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

Thanks, John! Your right, for a spur-of-the-moment decision to continue flying to the Cape and beyond, it's turning into a true adventure. Sometimes it amazes me how different the 'actual' geographical layout of the land is to what I've always imagined it to be - whether here in the US or around the world. Either my grade school teachers were wrong or I missed something (a lot) in geography classes. It's nice to be able to actually learn and clarify all that's out there through flight sim. Great pictures. I love Digital Aviation's work too, their Dornier DO27 is one of my favorite models in FS9 and one of the most realistic behaving plane models I've ever seen. It's to bad that the guy who did it left the team and we're unlikely to see a true FSX SP2 version.

Thanks, Kevin!
I don't have the Dornier, but sorry to hear one it's development team members left. More times then not, when a good team starts to break up, you never hear from them again - just kinda fades away. I'm going to have to follow-up and see what's going on with Digital Aviation.

Now that the holidays are over and time is somewhat back to normal . . . I've continued this flight around the US border in the 'Flights, Adventures, and Missions' Forum - Cheyenne - Circumnavigating the U.S. [a href=" "] [/a] Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

Dan..... The DA Cheyenne is also one of my favorites. I do believe they are the ONLY developer that has modeled the Gyro spin up as real as it gets. At least that's what it used to look and sound like on the aircraft I worked on.
When you get to Southern Cal...... don't forget to stop in to Hemet, (KHMT)....... I'll have a cold one waiting for you at the hanger!!
Cheers,

I agree that the DA Cheyenne is one of the nicest fs planes of its time. A tad outdated by today's standards but still very very nice and true to form. One of my favorites as well.

Steve/Keith, It always will be one of my favorites, right up there with the King Air. The Cheyenne just looks the part more - for my style of flying. There was an update (FS9) for it awhile back, but I can't remember whether I installed it or not - I'm going to have to check on that. It may fix that problem I have with manually adjusting the engine controls - always goes crazy when I adjust them with the mouse Steve, I'll take you up on that cold one!!
