Hi Folks.
Great to see the Old Hangar up and running again.
I love all of Bill Lyon's output, and can remember firing up the Classic Goose test flight a few years back - it simply blew me away. The quality of his work and the imagination that went with it is remarkable.
Anyway, has anybody flown the Eel Island flight , landed in the little lake and then flown under the rope bridge ? I'm blowed if I can find that bridge.
I'm like a dog with a bone with these ' fly and find' type missions , so any clues would be appreciated.
Regards...........Stuart

Hello again,
Just had another nose around in the Goose and finally found it.
As I flew above the waterfall below the little mountain top lake, I saw what appeared to be two tiny birds in the sky. - Closer inspection revealed them to be two natives running along an [invisible] rope bridge with bows and arrows.
Another cool Lyons effect !

Stuart, it has been a long while since I flew that flight, but I remember the bridge being there. I wonder if you might have a missing texture. I won't be able to test it myself until December 3 or 4 so maybe someone else can take a look in the meantime.

Thanks for the reply Tom,
I have checked the texture files and can only find a .bmp for the natives, not the bridge itself.
I also re-downloaded it from Flightsim - same result.

Hi to all , I have now discovered that I can see the rope bridge in 'slew' mode, but not in normal flight mode- it just disappears leaving the the native figures running along a non-existent bridge.. I tried re-installing the texture files but same result. Perhaps some kind soul can enlighten me please ? Stuart

I'm guessing it's the nature of the texture. It may be an 8 bit texture that doesn't display properly with newer video cards. Some FS8/9 scenery textures just won't work anymore. Maybe it can be converted. If all else fails I will check it out when I get home.

Here are a couple of shots of the bridge from my new computer. I7, GTX 470, WIN 7-64. Have not noticed too many problems running FS9/GW3 with it.

Thanks Tom, I didn't realise that about certain textures, although my video card is only an Nvidia 8400GS. Thank you Robert, your shots show that it does indeed exist in flight mode ! I'm off to do a bit of scenery folder juggling, to see if that does the trick. I did read somewhere that certain textures only show if placed in the main texture folder not in add-on scenery [ or maybe it was the other way round ] Regards.....Stuart

Just an update for anybody with the same problem.
I decided to leave the files in their original folders, as if the bridge shows up in slew mode then surely the sim is finding the texture.
On advice, I moved my settings way left and there was the bridge.
I normally fly with everything pretty much maxed out and have never come across this issue before.
Tom, I don't know enough to confirm it is an 8-bit texture, but I noticed that in the panel.cfg for the Goose there are entries for '8-bit colours'.
Should all else fail, I'll revert to my original display settings and use my imagination re the bridge !

Hi folks, Thanks to the posts of others on this forum, I've sussed out how to upload images. So I thought I would share my flight under the rope bridge The bridge suddenly re-appeared with my normal display settings - I wish I knew why ! I know this shot isn't relevant to the thread, but here's one of Mr Ito's excellent BAC TSR2 [ sadly cancelled ].This comes out of the box with no afterburners, so I stuck a couple on it. Shot was taken in FS2002 and I realise that maybe I should have retracted the gear a little earlier- judging by the indicated airspeed. Compliments of the season. ;D
