Was just curious if anyone else is playing SkyRim. In the past, I haven't spent much time doing "role playing" type games......just stuck with Flightsim. However, I must admit.....this not only is beautifully done......but is extremely enjoyable. I've spent the better part of the last 3 days exploring.....fighting dragons, you know.....the usual stuff, and have not even begun to scratch the surface. I was amazed to find that some of the voices are from well known celebrities also; i.e., Lynda Carter....Christopher Plummer.....etc. Cheers, Here's a theatrical trailer: www.videodetective.com/movies/trailers/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-trailer-1-trailer/28088Here's a game play trailer that's not bad.....Quality isn't very good but you'll get the picture of how big this world is. I've currently have about 25 hours of game time......I've maybe seen 3% of this place. To follow everything completely will take years I'm afraid. You've got me interested, Steve. It's a LONG time since I've played an RPG.........might be a new experience. Bruce I think the last one I played was Kings Quest......Many...MANY years ago. I'm REALLLLLYYYYYYYY enjoying this game......so much in fact, I'm not getting much of anything else done. The "trailers" show so much fighting with swords etc., etc., however, there is so much more to the game. It's so well done in fact, I'm really in awe of the beauty of the game..... especially the weather etc. Yep.....there's some fighting involved, however, it's quite fun actually. Last evening, my wife was headed off to bed around 10 P.M., and I DO remember telling her I'll be there shortly. About 30 mins., or so went by and I looked at my watch........it was 2 A.M., (smile) I guess it's true time flys when having fun. (smile) Cheers, BTW......after I killed my first Dragon.....I'm now a Thane. With that comes my own home and a bodyguard as sorts who is an AWESOME fighter and companion. (smile) Here's a picture of Lydia......... Cheers,

WHOA!! No wonder you didn't get to bed until 2 AM!! ;D She'd be worth fighting a few dragons for, methinks! ;D Bruce I must agree Bruce.......she is "easy" on the eyes. Okay.......I must confess however, there was a mod for the game that smoothed the skin and added make-up. However, she was pretty to begin with anyway. She looks even better in war gear. (smile) This game was released on 11/11/11 and already there are pages upon pages of forums out there. A lot of information can be found here: www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:SkyrimHowever, it was almost overwhelming to me. I found the easiest thing was go just go play and use the above as a reference. Like most RPG's, you pick things up as you progress through the game. Many things I'm grabbing, however, I'm not yet sure why. The books and letters you come across could take you weeks to read everything. You also can only carry so much......of course, Lydia helps out carrying now also. Another thing intersting......this game covers a HUGE area. And I mean.....HUGE!!!!! Once you've been to a place, you can always bring up the map and then fast forward back to that area. I've found it so beautifully modeled that I actually like taking the time traveling from city to city etc. I ALWAYS see something different etc. Cheers,

*snickers*........ the RPG monster has you Steve. Wait til they start adding game packs and up the top level. My youngest son wants this one for Christmas. I've been playing LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online) for three years now. I gather SkyRim is an MMORPG?
And speaking of Christmas, I hope all of you and your families have a safe and happy holiday season.

Yes John......this one has me "BIG TIME." (smile) You can spend months if not years in this thing just exploring, which is really quite lovely!!! I've already placed a couple of "mods" in the game to improve textures etc., which makes it even more enjoyable. Okay.....I'm not sure what a MMORPG is. (smile) I'm assuming the ***RPG is "Role Playing Game"......but the MMO has me stumped. It's not an "On Line" game so to speak; i.e., you play it alone......but is ran through the Steam Client which makes it quite nice actually. Especially since I do travel away from home on occasion, I'll be able to take this with me via laptop. Cheers,

....Okay.....I'm not sure what a MMORPG is. (smile) I'm assuming the ***RPG is "Role Playing Game"......but the MMO has me stumped..... I think it means something like "Massive Multiplayer On-line" RPG, Steve. I discovered that my poor little 6 year-old laptop really doesn't have the grunt to run this comfortably. (Thinks: I must do something about upgrading in the new year!) Cheers for Christmas! Bruce

I discovered that my poor little 6 year-old laptop really doesn't have the grunt to run this comfortably. Thanks for the help Bruce.......I'm lost anymore when it comes to some of these initials and acronyms. (smile) I finally got around to installing to my laptop yesterday. With this steam thing, you can't be playing on one computer and downloading to another......fortunately, I had to leave to go pick up the Christmas ham. (smile) I literally have been playing this thing since Monday with very FEW breaks, and there is still probably 98% of the place to explore......which I found out yesterday, there are miles and miles of underground also. I also learned yesterday, that you can create your own weapons.....and then enhance them with potions, poisons etc. So much I don't know....but enjoy roaming the countryside with my lovely sidekick and kickin some major butt. (smile) I need to start reading some of the 30-40 books I've picked up. I understand there is some great information within some of them, just like most books.....I just need to read them.....like in real life. (smile) Let's see.....I guess it's Christmas down under, so Hope You and Your Family have had a wonderful Christmas Bruce........Many Best Wishes to You and Yours!!!!!! Cheers,

Yep, MMO means you play with other users or people live online. So obviously, Skyrim does not fit in that category. Its amazing the amount of content anymore in these newer games. I'l will take a look at this as I have a Steam account.
Merry Christmas guys.

im glad you liked it sarge, now hat im getting more and more into film production and the use of CGI im starting to appreciate more and more what up until not too long ago i considered 'annoying rolling creds' and wow! you are right indeed! these types of productions (films or games) are just to show what we as people can really do if we ban together and work as a team also, this reminds me (and amazes me) how parallel the CGI and film worlds are coming together... I love it! i rcomen to you and anyone who liked the sound design bit to go out and buy the original soundtracks of your favourite films, and listen listen listen, a new wolrd will open for sure! and the movies (once you watch them again) wont ever be the same (but better!) cheers all!
