;D Got the DVD from the library the other day! The Spirit of St Louis starring James Stewart! This is the FS2004 Spirit modified for FS2002! ;D The contact points need more tweaking but the aircraft works a lot better than it did! This would be a sweet airplane for checking out the rest of England and France! Thanks! Christopher Attachments:

Right now I'm researching my next scenery project, Roosevelt and Curtiss Fields for FS2002 for May 20th 1927!
Thanks, Guys!

Progress! I found an old Airport plan of Roosevelt Field as it was on May 1927. I also found a link to Flight 1 Software's old Freeware copy of the FS2002 Spirit of St Louis. I installed the new Spirit yesterday and add the sounds from the FS2004 version! The Aircraft was perfect in all respects and I'll be using that for all the work on Roosevelt Field. I did find some old clips of Lindbergh's plane At Curtiss Field, from the Airport Appraiser's website. One clip showed Lindbergh's plane was in the last hangar, against the treeline. I know from at least one book, Fox News was in the first hangar, but I know how many were in between! ;D
Thanks Christopher

;D Here's a preview of my Roosevelt Field scenery. You can see Curtiss Field in the background. It's May 20th 1927 and Lucky Lindy is about to takeoff for Paris in the "Spirit of St.Louis"! The Aircraft is the freeware version of the Flight 1 Spirit and I've also included two scenarios for the Cessna 182 also. At this point it's a lot of fine tuning and eye candy! I decided not to add static aircraft on the fields, but I did add some older hangars around the edges. Not having any good maps or color views of the airport in 1927, I went a more 1935 ish look for Curtiss Field! Thanks, Gang! ;D Christopher Attachments:

;D I was testing Leon Louis's St Lazare Scenery for Quebec (CST3). I took off from the main runway, which runs almost North to South. After a few minutes I noticed a large building in the distance with a light on it! ;D After a couple of more minutes I figured out it was the Observatory at Otter Creek! I headed for the airport and landed there on runway 27. Must have been a little slick, because I stopped just before the taxiway at the end! ;D This was a first for me! Takeoff on someone else's scenery and land on mine! ;D Thanks Guys Attachments:

;D My Bucket List is Complete! ;D Old Faithful in Fs2002! I was about ready to give up on this puppy! I had sat on the spot where I thought it was, cranked up the time to 8x and waited. Nothing! Took off and started making orbits around the area for a few minutes. Nothing! ;D Decided to head south out of the area. Looked over my shoulder and saw the Geyser blowing it's top! ;D Turned around the Twin Beech and snapped this shot! ;D Thanks, Guys Christopher Attachments:

Fs2002 Never fails impress me! Even when the designers do something stupid, I'm still impressed! Thanks, Roger! Christopher

Thanks, Gang! ;D Christopher Christopher; I also found that 1927 scenery for Roosevelt Field. I also went through the trouble of setting up runways, taxiways, and parking spaces so I could park AI aircraft around the facility. I will be glad to send you what I did in FS2004. Unfortunately, you cannot import airports in FS2002; you have to create them all over again by hand. But, you could copy the locations and settings for everything from my file. Leonard Bonney also flew this Bonney Gull from Roosevelt Field on it's one and only fatal flight. Thus, I was interested in the Roosevelt Field from the perspective of the Bonney Gull as well as well has Lindbergh and his fateful flight. Here are some images of my setup in FS2004: I have got the Gull's flight dynamics tuned to where it takes off like in the video of it's fatal flight. I think that then either Bonney accidently or purposefully messed with the wing's angle of attack; or they began flexing, destroying their lift and causing the fatal crash. (I found out the trailing edges of the wings were un-reinforced and meant to flex.) -James

;D Awesome work! I don't mind when people add things to my sceneries! Back when I was doing addons for Orbiter- www.orbithangar.com, someone had modified several of my models and did a fantastic job on it! I tried to tell him to keep going but he only spoke Czech! ;D My only question is, where do I get that Gull? ;D I'm wondering if it will work in FS2002? PM me and I'll send you my email address! Thanks, James! ChristopherT

Thanks, James! ChristopherT Glad you like my AFCAD file; will share it here at a little later. Please feel free to use it in any manner you wish. The Bonney Gull is another project of mine that is stuck in my workshop. I do great in the beginning when the project is farely easy, and I see results fast. I keep getting bogged down when it comes to the tedious parts; usually the interior. (I am married with three children and now a grandson at home, and my time is very limited; I also don't have the free time at work I used to have.) The exterior is virtually complete; I need to add the linkages you see when the wings are folded back, and annimate the wing fold event with them: The rest of the wing annimations are in place: The Bonney Gull had varible camber, which I simulated using the wing flap event, and variable pitch, which I simulated using the spoiler event. I think tweeking the dynamics of the spoiler event may make it possible to simulate what happened prior to it's crash. You would think I would be out of luck determining what color the outside was, since all of the pictures and video are in black and white. But, it turns out a model of the Bonney Gull has survived, and that is what I used to determine the color of the outside of the Gull. There are no interior shots of the Bonney Gull available; just a glimpse from the outside of Bonney sitting in it, and some possible details from a picture of the wreckage. So, I put together a basic cockpit; the tedious part that remains is fixing the texture mapping of the cockpit frame so that all the frames are straight and of the same size. I also need to cut out and annimate the door; wasn't sure at first how it worked until I saw a similiar setup on a Wendell-Williams racer replica at the museum in Louisiana. It will work just fine in FS2002; you just have to convert the model file with MDLC. -James

Christopher;
I owe you an apoligy. It was not your Roosevelt Field that I used; but the one by William F. Shea. He made three different scenery packages: one for around World War I, one for 1927, and one for the Golden Age of the 30s. It is the 1927 one that I installed; and created an AFCAD for. He made them for FS2004; but they work just as good in FS2002; they don't work well in FSX because the ground is curved, and FSX with it's added scenery objects looks more "urban" than FS2002/FS2004 do. The lack of scenery objects in FS2002 and FS2004 make it look more like a rural landscape; or what the area probably looked like in that time frame.

It's one of the reasons I'm still content buzzing around in FS2002 instead of 2004! Well, I look forward to trying it out when you do finish it! I certainly know how time can get behind a project! ;D Thanks, James! Christopher

Now I'm going to try them out and set how good they look! Thanks, James! ;D Christopher
