A Tumultuous Year..1969, Wars,Riots, Hippys,Charlie Manson, and a host of other things...And Thu it all ..The USA put a MAN ON THE MOON..That day I thought that was the greatest thing to happen since man walked the earth...But to many?? it was not!Even until today...The Young know more Of Manson, hippys Drugs , than they do of this Historic Event...Today??? the USA has no real Space Exploration program,No JFK type Pres.any more! Moving Forward??? I think we Have moved very Far back....Looking Up At The Moon.I wonder If In my Life time Will I see that Again...I do Not think so,nor will my kids,or their kids see it...."THE MAN IN THE MOON" I seen it 45 yrs ago!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMINSD7MmT4

Out here in Oz the actual landing was at about 6:00 AM as I recall. I had been driving taxis the evening before and my mother got up to hear the landing but I was fast asleep and she didn't want to wake me! I could have cheerfully slaughtered her. The actual walk happened around mid-day and I went home to watch it, just as the whole world did. It was the most gripping piece of live television that I or anyone had ever seen. Recently I have been playing Kerbal Space Program. There has been a beautiful mod released called FASA that includes a very good Saturn V, so yesterday I re-created Apollo 11 in tribute. As I think I have mentioned before, the high point of my life was very briefly meeting and shaking hands with Buzz Aldrin.

CHUCK YEAGER!
Q: Were you upset not being an astronaut? A: No, I didn't want to wipe the monkey poop off the seat.

Hard to believe it's been that long. The family had gone to my sister's softball game in town, however, I was glued to the T.V., watching it "live"........what great excitement.....seems like just yesterday!!
Cheers,

Hard to believe it's been that long.......seems like just yesterday!! What brings the passage of time home to me with a resounding thud is that the youngest person alive at the time would now be a 45-year old adult only 15 years away from senior-citizenship!
