Well, Vin, in ages past I usually just threw up my hands and started over. Currently I just throw up my hands. A year ago I had working installs of FS2002, FS2004 and GW3 on my old Sony computer. I had FSX and Flight on this one. Everything was good. Then something happened to the hard drive on the Sony and I was not able to retrieve a thing from it. I put a new hard drive in and reinstalled WinXP but have so far not reinstalled any flightsims. I tried MS Train sim and after a week of installs it decided it didn't want to load anymore. End of that. I do have the EA Rail Simulator installed but it isn't very good. I could install FS2004 I guess, but so far I lack the will to do it.
On this computer I installed some freeware scenery for Florida and something bad happened. My scenery cfg became totally corrupted and I accidentally deleted my Orbx and OzX scenery folders while trying to back them up. Discouraged? Yes. I have all the installers safely backed up but I just lack the will, the desire to begin again. So I content myself with Train Simulator 2015 and Flight. I am content. I can Fly my PA-18 all over Hawaii (and Alaska if the Islands become boring) and it is as real as PC flying gets. If I had a real plane, it would be a PA-18 and I would fly around Eastern Maine. Not much difference really.
Maybe I will want FSX back eventually. It will be a simpler install, just Orbx & OzX scenery and very few aircraft. Probably the PA-18 from FS-Addon. More likely I will just buy it again when Dovetail releases the steam version and let steam install & maintain it.
EDIT: One of the nicest things about the PA-18 in Flight with those balloon tires is landing in the surf and stopping on the beach.

Some Of Us Are Just slaves to This INFERNAL MACHINE...Confronted by the mys tries of a world yet unknown..a computer is a living thing...like mere Mortals it is prone to all sorts of aliments Diseases,Accidents..and of course age..Like some Loss Of Memory..In 1969 it brought Man to Moon..and today We cannot still Understand why it behaves like it do!.. Its only now do I have time for this BUSY BOX...were it not for this?? i provably would Read more,Paint a Picture,Learn a Foreign Language,Join a debating society,....This Our toy Is much like GOLF or CHESS an exercise in total frustration....However like an addict..I will continue...I have recovered mot all of FSX..and its HUGE in its volume..Strangely believe it i Enjoy It...Like self-flagellation; I enjoy the Pain and the Supreme Pleasure I derive from it.. One Redeeming factor tho....The Little Kids...They Come Wide Eyed And I introduce them to Desk top simulation...In doing so I perpetuate one more generation off addicts...However If some Become Pilots Because of this??? I Then DONE GOOD...So on With my Misery/pleasure thing..Thnx Tom...Stay Well,Stay Safe,Stay Happy...
