¡¡ZAP!! Happens to the best of us once in a while, alles is gutten & flight sims running smoother & sharper than ever (thank you Nick's Tweak's!): Golden Wings, Silver Wings & A Hundred Years of Solitude...-I mean ¡A 100 years OF FLiGHT!- in PERFECT harmony... when HERR CiRRUS ViRRUS pays that most unwelcome visit.
Restarting becames erratic & more & more erratical, while the RECOVERY () partition of the hard disc said -NO GO, Charlie! corrupted- oh sh--- CALM DOWN!! Let the Lap cool down til NEXT day (solves 80% of problems). AFTER a morning coffee from that italian concoction iF iT RESTARTS, go explore that RECOVERY ().
I found a movie had been stored there, inadvertently- (my thick fingerprints?) - and also a WARNiNG: any strange object inserted here will turn-off RECOVERY forever & ever. With that "all is lost" heavy hart , I tried 'HP help' to find out that my Lap's RECOVERY file could be downloaded anew. To make it operational I had to RESTART it and... NO MORE!! No restart for 5 intents, then it enters & I go RECOVER SYSTEM. Just as I was going to format the hard disc, I see the SAVE FiLES section &... I fall into a 12 hour TRAP!! USB trap, at that. Saved everything, BUT ALL my add-on planes & no more Golden Wings, no more Silver Wings & I don't even remember where did I get them from...
Even WORST: I had made my first textures for an S-39CS Spirit of Africa, copy/paste technique from a 2002 model to a 2004 model, turned out very convincing but not perfect & flew well (most important!!) around the Kilimandjaro. That work was all thin air, like vacum it felt more. But my Lap was like new, with that dreaded ViSTA OS, wich after some tweaks & treats allows 'a Century of Flight' to display not only as a Flight Simulator, but as a Time Simulator as well: the 30's the 50/60's... (thanks, The Old Hangar!! recovered alles here)
I had a surprise coming: my LOST S-39SC 'Spirit of Africa' now was downloadable (thanks, FlightSim!!) with a few more liveries too. But no news on the 'Spirit of Osa' S-38, no zebra stripes yet.
All this sounds "easy" doesn't it? Maybe, but TiME CONSUMiNG that it is!! The whole week all 24/seven, except for a few siestas & gallons of coffee. At times even food had I, my daughter in law & son permiting. So I contribute this common story to an uncommon forum: sorry to hear that simulator forums are on the DOWN.
¡ABRAZOS desde México!
