I've just acquired a little 'sports cam' and the first video was by way of a quick test to see how it performs. You can see it by clicking on the following pic. Here's a link to my blog post about it. www.micro-trike.co.uk/wordpress/?p=7946The test video was taken from a longer one that I shot last Sunday while on a short drive around my local area. I went down the hill towards Plazac and then turned left to Le Moustier. From there I drove across the bridge over the river Vézère and turned left to go past La Roque St Christophe which is probably the biggest troglodyte ‘city’ in the area. Then I continued on through Peyzac le Moustier to St Léon sur Vézère, one of the prettiest local communes, from where I drove back up the hill and home again. I’ve edited the video down to eight minutes and you can see it directly by clicking on this pic. It's a great litle cam - how do the Chinese do it for the money? Can't wait to try it out in my aircraft. Roger

Great Video Roger.....however, it stopped at 3:50 and starts back at the beginning.
I obviously could not live where you do.....I would never get anything done as I would be out driving around sightseeing all day. (smile) What a wonderful place you call home!!!! Thanks for the video's.
Cheers,

ahh.. both videos start at the same place and the first one consists of almost all of the first half of the second one but with some bonus content, as they say - me emptying my rubbish bags into the bins As this was hardly Oscar material I took it out when I properly edited the full video and added music. The second vid is the full 8 minute edited version, goes beyond where the first vid ( 3 mins 25 secs) ends and contains shots of more places but after what Steve said above, just in case there was a glitch in the upload, I've re-uploaded vid 2. I have problems here because of snail-like internet but afterwards it ran OK for me. Roger

Thanks gents. Vin, the difference is that a GoPro costs $400 and my little sportscam including a kit of alternative mounts and a waterproof case cost me only £29 delivered from China! And for about 3 times the price you can also get one with zoom, Wi-Fi, IR remote control and a LED window like the GoPro Hero 4 that's equivalent to it but at a fraction of the price. Nice for all we buyers - but where's it going? I just don't know how they can do it and all we developed nations should be worrying like heck about the little bit of manufacturing that we still have left. We old farts needn't care but I worry about the world that our kids will be living in. Has it always been thus?

.... Has it always been thus? Yep, it has, Roger. I can clearly recall my parents and their generation worrying about the cheap Japanese imports (everything from toys to cars) of the 1950s and 1960s and the effect it would have on our manufacturing capability. "How can they make them so cheaply? We can't compete with that!" was the cry. They were right, of course.....up to a point. Whilst our trade unions bickered and fought and went on strike for higher wages and 4 weeks holiday a year and annual leave loadings and whacking great overtime allowances, the Japanese quietly manufactured and exported what became high-quality goods at very reasonable prices. Our grandchildren are now living in the early years of what will soon become a global economy. We are seeing it now, with international retailing becoming enormously popular on the internet.

You're probably right Bruce. Coincidentally, here's what I put on my blog this evening at about the same time as you did your post.
When I first came to France, I mentioned at the time that it was almost always more economical and quicker to source various items from the UK rather than buying them locally..(snipped).. However, when I searched for new front and rear brake pads, I soon found that sourcing from the UK was out of the question.
But, as usual, because the stupid French suppliers still refuse to recognise the internet and what it could do for their sales, they won’t be getting the business either. Instead, on this occasion it was quicker and cheaper to source the items from Germany. And not only the brake pads. When I checked the discs, which I should have done right at the beginning, I found that all four were shot too and they’re also coming from a (different) German supplier. When will the French get their heads out of the sand and recognise that the world is changing around them – whether they like it or not.

A while back I wanted to get an electronic ignition set for my Jaguar. I Googled and found just what I wanted in the US. There was an Australian agent for them and so, wishing to help the Oz economy, I inquired at our local car spares shop. The quoted price was $650 Australian as against $140 Australian from the US, including postage. And people wonder why some people buy stuff over the internet!
