I have his book 'Steam, Steel and Stars' somewhere. Hello Nige......I looked up his book, "Steam, Steel and Stars" over at Amazon.....they wanted more than I was willing to pay, however, did find it "New" at E-Bay for $5.00.....$9 counting the shipping so placed the order. I haven't purchased much from e-bay in the past....I've been burnt about as much as I've done good, so we'll see. Anyway....thanks for the tip.....looks like a good book!!! Cheers, Glad to be of service! I also have his book 'The Last Steam Railroad in America'. I have attached a couple of scans from it to whet your appetite!

Looks like the registration period is now closed. Might be a little crowded....(smile)
Total names on board: 826,923
I guess I thought there might be more......but still a lot of names. About a quarter of the size of Los Angeles......
If you go back to the Nasa Site you can sign up to be notified of the next flight. Most likely will be a while. (smile)
Cheers,

I think I tried this out on a demo version one time. Not bad.......but I still enjoy Kerbal Space Program: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kTbo1wmN-wThere has been a LOT of improvements over the past 12 months or so....and recently the "Official" launch took place. (It had been a "in work" beta version) Check out some of the video's by Scott Manley on You Tube. Very intense program and harder than it looks. I now have the launching, rendezvous & docking down pat......in my orbit....but haven't really done too much other than that. I recently launched an Unmanned satellite to a distant planet....however, as I'm getting farther away.....I'm beginning to have doubts if I will make it or.....or even if I do make it......I may not have enough fuel on board for a successful insertion into an orbit. Plus.....I tried to go "low budget" and I'm now wishing I would have gone with better solar panels as one ones I have no longer seem to be charging my batteries that well.....and I still have a long way to go. (smile) Cheers,

It's funny how we come and go with computer games/programs. I downloaded Kerbal a couple of years ago, at the suggestion of my son, and enjoyed it immensely, then just didn't fire it up anymore. It's still on my old laptop but not on this newer desktop.
More recently, since obtaining a faster & cheaper internet connection, I've been browsing Steam more and more and, as you know, have downloaded a couple of games from them and also several demos to try out. What I HAVE become interested in (after playing the quite in-depth demo) is ARMA 2 and it's Operation Arrowhead spin-off.
Although there is online multiplayer capability (not "massive", by any means....I think a maximum of 50) it is the fact that there is a comprehensive single-player facility, with Scenarios and Campaigns, plus a mission editor, which caught my eye.
The other thing which attracted me is the fact that it is NOT linear and NOT scripted and the game world (a chunk of real-world terrain & geography) is 225 square miles. It has a learning curve, certainly, but the sim is excellent and very immersive.

It's funny how we come and go with computer games/programs. Isn't that the truth!!! I now have several games that will be with me forever as I never seem to get tired of them. FSX of course.....Kerbal Space program and Farm Simulator 2013. (2015 has a LOT of bugs in my opinion)... and not to forget Train Simulator, Project Cars and on occasion.....Skyrim. For little "quick" games.....Crash Dive has become a biggie...however, is almost too easy.....and I still enjoy a good game of Microsoft Chess. That's more than enough to keep me busy...(smile) but I tend to get into one of the games and might play it for months on end....then switch and do the same with another. With the FSX-SE addition I've been thrilled with how well it performs and am still finding new places to see and go. Cheers,
