I believe there has been a few discussions on this all ready, and of course I keep asking myself if "I"...... and the EXACT example of Einstein's definition of insane. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” - Albert Einstein However, a very dear friend sent me a video clipping from a You Tube poster (Frooglesim) and I must admit I am somewhat intrigued. With that said.......I must also admit that I have fallen away from the flightsim enthusiasm I once had. Unlike some....I still have it on my machine and will perhaps take a flight a few times a year. I also purchased XPlane....and Aerofly and gave them a go....but the days of the old MS Flightsim has seemed somewhat faded. SO...... I watched the video and now find myself hoping?? dreaming?? The old feeling is creeping back in, "Could this be what I've been waiting on?" Then become disgusted with myself thinking....here we go again. (smile) So thought I'd post here to the ONLY folks I have come to trust and admire........and yes.....I do admire and cherish all my dear friends from The Hanger. (smile) Have you watched the video and what are your thoughts......even if you have given up on Flight Sim.....I'd still be interested in your thoughts on what's presented. Hmmm.....a flightsim "WE" could actually do VFR flights. Wow!! Big claims but low and slow has always intrigued me. My final thoughts......for me.....it's going to be worth keeping an eye on. (smile) Here's the article.........long......but interesting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj8h6yibHHc&t=432sCheers!

I hope its successful and attracts a whole new generation to flight simulation. That being said, I will likely never see it on my computer. I have FSX with too many addons, MS Flight, the best small plane sim ever made, and the two half-assed tries by DTG. And if I get really bored, I could re-install X-Plane 9 LOL. BUT When I load a flight sim it is just to take a break from my trains.
Seriously though, I don't have the computer (or Windoze 10) to run the new sim. and the days are gone when I would run out and buy a new computer for the latest flight-sim.

Well, Steve and Tom, I watched this video a week ago courtesy of my son texting me the link....teasing me, as it were!
Totally blown away by the graphics, that goes without saying. When I think back to my first FSim days and the jerky VGA images and then look at FS2020 it amazes me just how far they've come with CGI.
Will I buy it? Perhaps, but I would also buy an XBox on which to run it via our large HD television screen.
I wouldn't think of playing it on the current PC (Windows 7) and my Windows 10 PC, which is used just for emergencies - doing internet "stuff" if the W7 desktop unit goes down - hasn't the grunt to run much more than Solitaire.
A "wait and see" situation, I s'pose.

It will need a fast pc but equally important for all the "eye candy", will be fast broadband to take advantage of the petabytes required to maximise all that pretty scenery.

It will need a fast pc ...... Or you can get an XBox One, which is probably the preferred way to go and the one I'll opt for. I'd rather spend AU$400 on an XBox package than AU$1000 on upgrading my desktop just for FS2020. I've been sort of dipping the toe in the water over the past week by playing a few games on a console and feeding the video to the TV. My son sent me his PS4 to try out....I've never used a console before so the experience is somewhat unusual. However, the game-pad/controller didn't take much getting used to as I already use one for racing sims (Project Cars 2, Assetto Corsa)on the PC. Adventure/crafting games (Fallout 4 and The Last of Us) take some getting used to because controlling a person is totally new! What blew me away, however, was the much bigger picture. Wonderful! Result is that once FS2020 is released and if the reports are positive then it'll be XBox One for me.

I'd rather spend AU$400 on an XBox package than AU$1000 on upgrading my desktop just for FS2020. Having been rabidly anti-console for years I had not thought of that. Hmmmm Maybe and old dog can... Indeed! I have on occasion thrown FSX, TS20xx, and ATS to the 55" Wireless keyboard, mouse, and controller and I can forget to eat LOL.

I'd consider the XBox route if it will allow 3rd party content to be added.

I'd consider the XBox route if it will allow 3rd party content to be added. Interesting....... All comments are very interesting!! I for one never really thought about a Xbox or console.......they seemed to "Video Arcade" for me. However, I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments and frankly.....Bruce and others have made some VERY keen observations I haven't thought of. I'm not planning on diving in head first have I had in the past. I'm "MOSTLY" happy with how my FSX Steam runs.....but I still get "Out of memory" errors some of the time. That of course is due to all the "Extra" ORBIX stuff I run I think. I do like all the eye candy, so that is what caught my eye with FS2020. Well.....I'm starting to ramble...something I do more and more these days. (smile) But do want to thank all of you thus far........You've given me many things to ponder for the time being. (Smile) Cheers!

I'd consider the XBox route if it will allow 3rd party content to be added. If third-party input is catered for with FS2020 then there is no reason why it wouldn't be possible with the XBox, Roger. Every game which is available on multi-platforms and which has downloadable content for the PC version also has it available for the other formats.

Well, now that it's released and I can see the final results all I can say is that Microsoft has great marketing skills... but FS2020 is such a disappointment. Very good visuals if you have a $3,000+ PC but as far as flight dynamics, ATC and any other factor that makes it a "sim" it's a dud. It's a nice "game" but calling it a simulator is like calling 2020 a wonderful year.
