Steve, you might be amused by this little ditty from one of our TV comedians............ The poem is a parody of a famous Aussie poem by A.B. "Banjo" Patterson entitled "The Man From Snowy River". That was bloody Brilliant!!! I haven't laughed that hard in a very long time!!! (Smile) As far as the telephonic audit goes........That too is brilliant. (smile) There is very little we look at anymore at the office as most of everything we do is on the computer at home prior to the audit. When we go to the office, we're checking a few items at the office.....keeping in mind, some of these offices I have been going to every year for the past 20 years. Also......many if not most of the offices I visit, have several Regional VP's clustered there. Once again from a financial aspect.....why does the company pay my mileage and/or airfare....plus hotels....plus meals to visit an office 6 times throughout the year. Once would have been enough to see what I need to view at the office. My one trip up to Fresno, CA. will usually cost the company about $1400 - $1800 for my 5 day trip....most of that is hotel and meals....but usually an average of about $500 is what they pay me in gas money. I make that trip about 5 - 6 times a year. Me doing the audit from home costs the company only my already paid salary. No hotels, meals or gas. Times are changing and becoming a more technical society.......I'm pleased to see this COVID-19 may catapult my department into at least a consideration of implementing something similar. Oh.....and BTW......we have just started using a video chat program throughout the company this week. I've video chatted with one of my fellow auditors the other day after my first telephone audit. And yes......he was still in his auditing bath robe and me in my PJ's. (smile) I'm really enjoying this telephone audit.....it's a complete pleasure going to work these days. (smile) Strange part......they (Audit) really aren't that much shorter. Thanks again for the video. Can't wait to get it sent to all my family and friends. (smile) Cheers Mate!!

Just checking in. I'm glad you're all ok. So far where I am located has seen very little of the virus. I'm sure it will hit us eventually but I am in a relatively safe little community with pro-active management. Best of all, with the weather warming up, 7 times around the outside of the building is a mile. Today in 7 laps, 2 of us walking 6-8 feet apart came within 30 feet of 3 other people. Not bad at all. Here's your songs for the day: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNIZofPB8ZMand of course: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3lwL0qF-mgCarry on...

It's good to read that you're okay, Tom. It also looks as if your social distancing procedures are easily meeting the minimum specs required by the WHO! Steve...thanks for the explanation re: telephone auditing. I can see why you would have liked to have been working under that system from the get-go, mate. My son (graphic animator) is now working from home (in Canberra), probably for the next few months. He locks himself away in his home office whilst his partner looks after the kids (3) because the schools have shut. Then Drew finishes his workday around 3:00 PM and takes over the kid-control until their bedtime. Compromises have to be made by us all. Cheers!

Having a bit more free time on my hands recently, I invented a new word - Aracnobatics. It's what you do after walking through a spider's web.

A lovely word, Nige. It rolls off the tongue so easily. I remember from years ago someone - or some people - invented new words to describe certain events.....like aracnobatics does. The one that sticks in my mind is "lactomangulation" - the damage caused to the top of a cardboard milk carton when trying to open it and make a pouring spout.

The visual image in mind makes this SO hilarious!!! Yet another word for the vocabulary. That is.....IF I can remember them. Too funny!!! Cheers!

Here in West Texas, we've only a dusting of the virus. Good hospital here, well equipped and stocked. Most COVID-19 cases are being sent to home quarantine with RX for Hydroxychloroquine. Only 25% are admitted, 2 deaths so far out of 35 validated cases. 1/3 are recovered, so far.
Retreating to our flightsim and trainsim forums and simulators provides a welcome escape from the social disruption. We can still travel our virtual world. I suspect that this COVID-19 is a bit over hyped. I'll wager it will end up looking more like the usual flu than the 'KILLER BUG'. Seems like us old farts are the primary target. So kids will get their inheritance a bit early, is this really such a bad thing?
I'm hunkered down with my dogs, well stocked with bacon, beans, rice and adult beverages. And of course, toilet paper ... the new currency!
Stay safe, keep calm and carry on!

.....I suspect that this COVID-19 is a bit over hyped. I'll wager it will end up looking more like the usual flu than the 'KILLER BUG'. .. No, it's definitely the most serious pandemic (i.e., global epidemic) since the 1918/1919 Spanish Flu - and that was devastating.

It's a month later and Texas has mostly reopened. Here in West Texas the Wuhan virus was quite mild. Looks like our summer has begun, most likely any stray virus will be cooked. Hands are cleaner than ever and we still use the neat masks (may actually be keeping the dust stirred up by the ever present wind from lodging in our lungs). I personally do not know of any Wuhan virus victims. In Midland county we had 123 cases and 12 deaths. I'm almost sure there were more folks trampled by cattle around here!

I personally do not know of any Wuhan virus victims. Neither do I - but that doesn't lessen the global impact that COVID-19 has had...and is still having. In Midland county we had....12 deaths. .....more folks trampled by cattle around here! So this year, so far, you have had double the number of annual fatalities caused by stampeding cattle. That in itself is cause for concern.

It's a month later and Texas has mostly reopened. Here in West Texas the Wuhan virus was quite mild. ... It's now more than a month later and, sadly, from news reports we are seeing, Texas has become one of the worst-affected states in the USA, along with Florida. It seems as if this virus has a long life ahead of it and that the person administering your country by Twitter just hasn't got a clue.
