Hello All, This post is to pass along a couple things we have discovered about Golden Wings that we think improve the golden age flying experience and would like to see if they should be included in the next GW update.
I accidently discovered the other day that the GW3 water actually looks better without the wave painted textures!! If you want to try an expiriment and have a few minutes try this: Using Windows explorer open the scenery/world/texture folder and set the view as "Thumbnails". Now move to a temporary folder all the textures that end in "..wa.bmp" like 001b2wa1.bmp etc. There are about 60 of them.. You can spot them because they are 8 bit and windows will show them as actual pictures when you scan through the folder. That will make it easier to find them. When you have all of the water textures moved to a temp folder then move back only the 01,02,03,55,56 and 57 series of painted water textures as provided in the GW3 download. Now boot up gw3 and see if you like the water! Check out San Francisco bay, Honolulu etc. If you don't like the look of the water then put back all rest of the textures and no harm done.. Be interested to hear your opinions. I think it looks better and runs a little faster on my machine.. NOTE: This only appies if you are using the GW3 water and have a modern video card that allows reflective water!

Installtest3 is included in GWExtras near the bottom of the page
The second item is a little expirimental texture change that I think gives more 1930s rough looking grass and fields! The default set up looks like a smooth golf green! Download the file at goldenwings3.net/files/InstallTest3.exe and apply it to your Golden wings installation after first backing up the file detail1.bmp in your scenery/world/texture folder. Boot up GW3! If you don't like the grassier look then you can always replace your back up file. This file also replaces the summer city business/neighborhood with better blending textures. Hope these files enhance your low and slow golden age flying experience and give us a little feedback here before we include them in the next GW update. Thanks to Kofi for sharing this great pic that shows the new grass look! Thanks Lynn and Bill
