So terrain detail is set half way to 'land only' and 'water effects' are at full slider?

What is your video card? There are some, like on my laptop for example that just don't do it. Intel cards don't and nVidia MMX cards don't.

Nvidia GeForce MX 4000 AGP8X 128MB DDR is the one I got now OK, that's one that won't show the reflections. There's no cure I'm afraid. You might look into one of the FX series cards. They're cheap now and do nicely for FS9.

My video card is NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX 440 AGP 8x
I can't get water reflections with it, but I do see reflections on aircraft, windows and skin. Is water reflection a different application than reflection on aircraft? It would seem the two would be the same.

I found two different FX Ge Force Cards at Wal-Mart.com, One is a AGP and the other is a PCI ,both are 128MB. which one do think would work the best.

If your motherboard supports AGP then I'd go for that.

Is water reflection a different application than reflection on aircraft? It would seem the two would be the same. The water reflections are a DX9 feature and the MX cards do not recognize DX9. In fact some glass in FS2002 planes is a mirror in FS9 with that card. Its a small difference in the way alpha channel and reflections are handled between the two sims and between DX8 and DX9
