And so much for THAT great idea; I got Sbuilder and it doesn't work. Keeps telling me "FS2004 does not exist on this computer." (And yes, I've got fsuipc and that other one too, latest versions both.)
Anybody else ever run into this particular bit of cyberidiocy?

Yeah, it was a registry problem all right. Even my own registry had the strange idea that I keep my flight sims in Program Files. I go through this all the time; I should have known.
(Does ANYBODY install these things there? I keep all my flight sims, shooter games, motorcycle sims etc. in their own Games & Toys folder; it seems obvious...but if you don't use the default Program Files\FS9 installation, you spend a lot of time arguing with installers and other cyberidiots. I suppose it would be simpler just to move everything there but IT'S A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE...and anyway I don't want to use Sbuilder on FS9, I want to use it on GW3. Moomph, rowrbazzle etc.)
Oh well. Sorry about that. I got it running is all that matters I suppose. Now to see about that BRIDGE, my God, I could have dynamited the real one with less work...I swear I'm starting to feel like I'm going to see Alec Guiness and Sessue Hayakawa standing on that thing....

Something else interesting: Sbuilder seems to want only ONE FS9 installation to hook up with. I used Regedit to enter my GW installation (oh, sure, I know how to do that, I'm not a total ignoroid) as the default FS9 installation on my computer - it still doesn't know about my regular FS9 folder, I don't see that it particularly needs to - and Sbuilder went right to that with no objections; but I got the distinct impression that it wasn't having any of multiple installations.
In fact it didn't give me any options; it just went straight to the registered installation and that was that - it doesn't have a Browse button as most of these programs do, that's rather odd isn't it?
So I wonder if it would be possible to switch back and forth between two FS9 installations. Doesn't look as if it would be.
Which is not a problem for me, since I have no interest whatever in mucking about with FS9 scenery - I wanted Sbuilder strictly for GW - but it might be for somebody else. As I say, I wonder.
I would guess, just looking over the process, that you could go ahead and use it, at least on something as simple as deleting a structure, and then take the resulting .bgl and haul it over to the other installation and stick it in there. But maybe not? Interesting.
I'd be curious to hear from anybody with experience along these lines.

You cracked me up about 3 times with this one. I kind of agree with you about wanting to do it my way, not Bill Gates' way but I gave up fighting. I have it all in Program Files I won't be able to get that damn tune out of my head now...

And I have the honor to report that bridge is GONE. I mean it is SO gone. It is the GONEST.
(As you might have begun to suspect, I have some personal issues involving that particular bridge in real life, so this is doubly satisfying.)
Took some doing; despite the clear little tutorial I still had some trouble getting the hang of it - and it didn't help that you have to use that iniquitous Slew function, possibly the most maddening single feature of FS9; may the individual who designed it spend eternity in a room full of starving wombats - but I finally got it.
(One tip to anyone thinking of trying this: use one of Bill's cars, like the '34 Ford, rather than an airplane. You just about have to come out of Slew before registering your corner point - otherwise it tends to drift and throw things off - and the car doesn't try to take off when you come out of Slew, especially if you hold down the brake as you do so. Also the car doesn't give you a crash at that point as the planes sometimes do, and you can even drive it a bit to make small adjustments.)
Well, this has all been fascinating. So far I've learned how to remove two different kinds of objects; now I have to learn how to put objects in, and edit airfields. This should keep me busy for a while....

Well I think with sbuilder and AFCAD you could become a scenery wizard And that would be great! Also, here's a slewing hint for you, hit F1 just before hitting Y to come out of slew. You should be locked in place instead of accelerating at warp 6

You just about have to come out of Slew before registering your corner point - otherwise it tends to drift and throw things off - Sounds like a joystick issue... I have a cr*ppy joystick that mutters to itself all the time (no hands off flying for me ), so I just went into the control settings and disabled all the joystick inputs to slew mode. Far easier to control with the numpad inputs anyway....

Sorry if I confused people - didn't intend to. I get to the point where I worry that in trying to learn all this stuff I won't get time to fly - which is what it is all about for me.

Thanks for posting that link!
I've been puzzling over how to remove a couple bridges in my local area, trying the same methods with the same lack of success. That thread explains it perfectly!
And it's apparently possible to move bridges, too! That'll allow me to adust a few that belong there but don't quite fit the corrected waters I'm using.
I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend...

Well, I don't know if that solved your problem, but this thread pointed me towards Freeflow, which was a resource I was unaware of..... Thanks!!
