Well, a little light has been shed: I emailed the designer and got an email saying that I did indeed have a bad version of the program. (Which, since I re-downloaded it about the same time you did, means that basically the one now available at Avsim is the defective one.) He said the initial error, about SCASM not being recognized, had been fixed. He didn't know anything about the other error - refusing to recognize air files - and merely said it shouldn't do that. He directed me to his website, where there is a link to download the latest (beta) version. (You're not going to believe this next bit.) The link didn't work. I got a "not found." (pause while you get up off the floor) Could have been a temporary web problem, I'll try again later. If you'd like to give it a shot this is the site: cspesys.dnsalias.comGood luck, Mr. Duck.

I used rwy12 for objects, but I can't use it now because it doesn't support API. I cant figure out Airport, and Sbuilder doesn't work. What I would really like is if someone would make/convert scenery to be compatible with the XML style of rwy12. I second this. Is it possible to convert API's to Rwy12 compatibility?

Its scasm vs xml. I don't believe it is possible but would be thrilled to be proven wrong

You are correct - the site is there but the download is missing

For the conversion... Don't you think that If you have the source file, you could save it and do whatever is needed to make it xml. There is a tutorial out there for making the sceneries, that shows how to make the xml.

I will post to database some API macros I made for Brooklands etc. Some are "quick and dirty" macros, just cut-out photos of people, vehicles, equipment, which turns to face you, remarkably effective and easy to make, with EOD.

Thank you John. I'm sure the APIs will get plenty of use. The people will be very popular

To anyone who needs api's of objects, planes and people I have quite a few. They're all in SCASM, of course, and may or may not show up in Golden Wings. The objects (hangars, buildings, etc.) were designed and built by me for FS2002 and use bitmaps. The aircraft are all from FS98, with xaf textures, and vary from the 20' through the 50's. The people are in modern dress, but some of the men are in suits and airline uniforms, and some of the ladies are in long dresses. Few are wearing hats, which were a requirement of the period, both for men and women, but unless you are a period fashion expert, no one will notice. The people api's were not built by me, but other folks. I have downloaded them from various sites. Unfortunately, the people are 2D only, but you can use the textures to build .api's that rotate to the position of your plane. I am sorry that I don't know how, yet, to build api's of 2002 and 2004 aircraft; I am just learning about scenery in 2004.
Anyone who wants a particular api, or my entire list, with descriptions, can email me at buffler@inbox.com. Thanks! Del.

Placing APIs with SceneGenX is easy. No need to load A background map. You can place them decimaly.
