lj If you are asking, do all FSX look like that? The answer would seem to be yes. If you are asking is is supposed to look like that, the answer is no (unless global warming and desertation have taken over a whole lot more of the world over the last 3 years. ) The game seems incomplete. But, I must agree with Tom. There was nowhere near the whining about fs9 that there was about X. It is incomplete, and a dog... and I suspect the reason is not innocent (Read Vista marketing needs). I also agree that the minimum level of acceptible quality is what can be had for free, today on the web. Yet they are taking money for a product that in many ways is not even the close to the quality of the product it aims to replace. MS should be taken to task for it. It is a poor poor way to treat your customers.

I posted this to Tom on another thread:
I was so disappointed with FSX I uninstalled it after 20 minutes of use...don't know what all the hype was about. It now sits with my stack of other forgotten PC discs

I agree with Tom entirely fairness is irrelevant.
What is relevant is vlaue added over a "loaded FS9". This is not some kind of software technical benchmarking contest but an issue of whether or not my flight experience (call it he fun factor) is enhanced "as is".
As for the landclass, FSgenesis USLC for FS2k2 was working fine with FS9.

My son-in-law asked me yesterday if I had bought, or was intending to buy, FSX. When I said "No", he asked "Why not?" When I said "Because from what I've seen and read it doesn't offer me anything above and beyond the reasons why I enjoy FS9" he said "Fair enough!" and continued to drink my beer. Bruce

As someone who is still debating on weather to get FSX or not, I find these posts very interesting. Based on the demo and what I've read here and elsewhere (and me being a VFR nut ;D ), I don't think I can get a better flight experience with FSX 'out of the box' than I can already get with my improved FS9. For me, I think it will be the add-ons that either make or break FSX for me. I'll have to wait and see, but for the time being, FS9 is still my sim of choice. For comparison reasons, here is Sitka as it looks on my version of FS9.

As for the landclass, FSgenesis USLC for FS2k2 was working fine with FS9. I read on the Genesis forums that Justin's latest US Landclass works in FSX.

Yes KBR's screen shot pretty much says it all and the mountains don't look like they belong in soutwest Texas.

LJ's FSX image again for reference. I guess somewhere in there, MS/ACES did not notice that bush flying was hugely popular in FS9 (look at all the addons). Why Alaska is this way (at any detail setting) is beyond comprehension.

The screen shot I posted here and which Shad shows up above is just to the right of the photo below which is heading inland. The photo below is not to bad, it is when you go inland the mountains don't look like they belong in Alaska. I sure in time some third party developers will put out better textures and landclass. [

I wish I had kept a defaul FS9 installed, once I discovered GW3, I have not looked back, and keeping two FS's seemed redundant heheh.

I'm the chairman of the Department of Redundancy Department. I have at the moment, one install of FS2002, four! installs of FS9 and one of FSX. Of course I am retired, live alone and have no life.
