An ingenious design feature of the Kawanishi N1K1-J Shiden was the double-retraction of it's main gear. Like the N1K1 Kyofu floatplane fighter from which the Shiden was developed, the Shiden had a mid-wing arrangement. It also had the more powerful Nakajima Homare engine and a larger four blade propeller. The problem with the mid-wing configuration was solved with undercarriage legs that contracted as they retracted into the wing. The final developement was the N1K2-J Shiden Kai (George) which simplified the entire design. The Shiden Kai introduced a low wing and dispensed with the double retraction mechanism. Yasuhiko Sasaki's wonderful CFS2 N1K1-J models the landing gear retraction sequence nicely.

Interesting, reminds me the Buffalo or the Wildcats complicated sistem for raising gears too, Is that a CFS plane?

Yes, retractable gear on a mid-wing design posed a real challenge to aeronautical engineers. I have heard that there is a FFVS J-22 in beta for FS9. The J-22 had gear that folded back into the fuselage. I can't wait to see that one. The N1K1 is CSF2 flying in GW3 (love GW3 .
