I actually thought the picture looked about right to me..... I took the guy from the bottom left and copied him....then moved him next to the cockpit for a better perspective. Here's the result...... Yep....I can see that the relationship is more 1:1 than it appears. Thanks, Steve.

The photo still doesn't look right . . . While SgtMajor illustrated the fit of the people, it still does not account for the size of the plane in direct relationship to the wind tunnel inlet - the plane is too big! As compared to the Langley relational size. If it is real, then that accounts for the 109's eventual demise - succumbing to the P-51. Just not enough air space - having to fly around in that small circular circumference . . . Interesting thread nevertheless! Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

LOL! OK Dan, I also believe Apollo 11 never reached the Moon too.
Oh Bruce, that link saddens my heart deeply! where are the times when to be a captain was a more serious afffair? that is hillarious!

I'm real curious about what the text says above the swastika on the back wall...probably something along the lines of "Work will set you free"?

.......probably something along the lines of "Work will set you free"? That exhortation was only used (as far as I am aware) over the entrance at Auschwitz. I doubt if it would have been used in such a location as depicted in these photos. It's more the type of slogan that would be in a prison camp rather than a development centre.

I'm real curious about what the text says above the swastika on the back wall...probably something along the lines of "Work will set you free"? No, I think that was written elsewhere. Slogans of all type, with the words "frei" and "freihet" (free and freedom) were as popular in the past as it is today in the present when it comes to "hide" or to support crimes of any kind by any regime, be it totalitarian or democratic (ops, I went OT sorry guys). Anyway, I was curious myself and tried to see what is written there and I come with this: "Das Deutsche Volk wird sich durch die eroberung der Luft seinen xx im gebuhrenden platz---------> this line is not very legible and it is my "interpretation" in der welt erzwingen" Anyway, people, time to reveal the mistery: it is the wind tunner of Braunschweig and the pic was taken in 1940 as you can prove by yourself here: www.dlr.de/100Jahre/DesktopDefault.aspx/tabid-3303/5152_read-7463/gallery-1/gallery_read-Image.37.3207Thanks for participating! there is already another "mistery" coming on soon!
