I just came across this: www.dieselpunks.org/profiles/blogs/knights-of-the-air-gottfriedThe story of Gottfried v. Banfield: " He was known as the 'Eagle of Trieste', being probably the only flying ace who flew a flying boat fighter to nine or more victories." The post makes a nice little addition to the Lohner´s history and the view on Austro-Hungarian naval ;D warfare.

Yes, Freiherr von Banfield was a living legend untill his dead in 1986. He flew some planes specially modified for him during WWI ( the Lohner L16 for example, modded to be a pure fighter).
Craig, are you still there? I sent the final skins last Wednesday; please let me know if you get them; if not I'll send them again (my internet is making crazy things lately).
PS: that link is simply aswesome! great find Slide!

Never too old to learn something, didn't know that Baron Gottfried lived for a while in 'my' neck of the woods (I was born and grew up near Newcastle upon Tyne). Strangely, there is a Benfield Road in the town, but I don't think it's a misspelled connection, I think it's an older name. Thanks for posting that site Slide, much appreciated. Leyland

Roger that Craig!
Leyland, that can possibly be the case. On a curious note, I lived in "Banfield City" for a while: a funny place at Argentina founded by the english railroad workers during the 1880s. Many of the actual inhabitants are descendants from those original (3rd or 4rd generation).
