Hello Tohers! I am opening this thread so we can discuss and share information, and show progress of Alexander Belov's newest project: to recreate an Austro-Hungarian Naval Base during WWI so we can fly the Lohners in their "natural environment". Please share with us photographies, books, rarities, and every single bit of information about the KuK Kriegsmarine units, bases, and whatever you think it is good to know. I am inserting Alexander's original post here: "Pola naval station, with a number of ships would be "flyable" and interesting alone. For example, three of "Radetzky"-class battleships, three of "Habsburg"-class battleships, "Admiral Spaun" and two light cruisers of "Saida"-class, "Gaa" and her submarines laying on the roads. Famous U-5 submarine would be mandatory. As about seaplane stations of K.u.K. navy, there was an interesting book: "Die k.u.k. Seeflieger", Koblenz 1983. I wish to have it... An interesting site on the subject: www.kuk-kriegsmarine.at/And a page dedicated to flugboote and flugstations: www.kuk-kriegsmarine.at/flugboote.htm" Thanks you in advance! I hope we will see the sea and air of the Adriatic crowded very soon with your help.

For my opinion, Adriatic is interesting because of good historical background and large variety of aircraft used here - from airships to flying boats. I think, it would be interesting to recreate some historical background for excellent Lohner seaplane published last days. The most necessary for this moment is the colors used for combat painting of K.u.K. ships. Old postcards are of poor quality and it is difficult to obtain correct colors from them: As far, as one can see, a waterline was painted in red, when sides were seawater-green color. As example: Is it correct?

Well... Let's begin. The "Admiral Spaun" light cruiser, the first modern light cruiser in K.u.K. navy. Fast, faster than contempprary British "Adventure", US "Chester" and German "Emden". Well-protected, but, may be, lightly armed ship. and in MSFS: The torpedo depot ship "Gaa" Originally she was Russian Voluntary Fleet liner "Moskva". In 1909 she was bought by K.u.K. navy and became a mother-ship for torpedoboats and submarines.

Thank you, the texture file is corrected. Searching for the information, an interesting article "The King - Emperor (K.u.K.) naval aviation" was found: www.mauroantonellini.com/joomla/images/stories/file-pdf/aviazionekuk.pdfSo, shall we begin with Kumbor seaplane station, located in Cattaro bay? It seems to me, that the picture of E-33 seaplane was taken at Kumbor too.

Great finds! I see you've engaged a team of researchers...lol!
Let's start with Kumbor. Crazy idea: I may ask Craig for some AI low polys Lohners to include in the scenery (but he is very busy with real life lately, so we must be patient). To recreate some fleets going "to bomb" Venice (or any other target) and back, could be a good idea.
That of course, requires knowdledge of AI traffic ( I forgot how but I still have the proper tools in a backup disk).

Following this thread with the greatest interest!!!
Don't forget that a fair amount of 'shipping' in the period would be under sail - there are quite a few sailing ship models in the both FS9 and FSX.
Is it possible, in FSX, to substitute old warships or sailing ships for the normal AI traffic (leisure and ferries)?
Great stuff,
Leyland

It seems to me, that seaplane traffic creation would encounter some problems. So, better we shall go to "normal" static scenery and simple AFCAD allowng to select this facility in MSFS.
Ship traffic is impossible in MSFS2004. Instead, ships (a submarine, for example) can stay on one place a day and move to another place on the next day. So, a "quasi-dynamic" scenery can be realised.

LOL - I see we are going for another place first.......: I prepared a little piece of Pula. This is a translated map of St Catarina Island in Pula Bay, taken from www.kuk-kriegsmarine.atThought it might be of use. Regarding the ship colours I found it seems they had yellowish (!?) decks. An illustration of the "Radetzky"-Dreadnought shows it as well as a (Wow!)-model of the "SMS Viribus Unitis" de.academic.ru/pictures/dewiki/107/klasa_radetzky.pngthemodeller.tripod.com/viribus125/viribus125.htmlAlexander, I found a used sample of "K.u.K. Seeflieger" at Amazon, but they want 150 bucks for it. §$%&!!!Leyland: Sailships for the Adriatic would be great for sure! ;D

Nice plan Slide! the last link to the Viribus Unitis shows a green paint for the submerged section of the ship ( I don't know the technical word into english). I saw that before but I thought it was not "real", now it is! and it is very curious and unusual. the "yellowish" you see in the draw is an wooden "soil" that was usually applied on the metallic surface to keep sailors on board (to avoid them falling down the ship).. I think it depends on the age of the vessel if it is clearer or brighter.
OK, it seems the AI ship project is not possible or may be too difficult to do. Let's stay with static fleet by now But I remember I have some sceneries with ship traffic in FS9 ( Aerosoft's carribbean I think). If we talk about the planes taking off and landing from water, it can be done; we only need an invisible runway done with Afcad. Once I'll be done with the Kansan I'll study the matter a bit more.

Ship traffic does work in FS9. May be limited to small distances. I have no idea how it goes but there are moving ships in the Misty Fjords as well as somewhere in ... Scotland(?) Some GW3 scenery from friends right here at TOH. Hama´s fishing boat... the Harry-Levy-Flight... Froggy?the submerged section of the ship ( I don't know the technical word into english). Belly?

There is a Kumbor map on K.u.K. site too: Workshops and hangar H5 can be easily distinguished on photos, so these objects can be modeled with high accuracy. A large variety of sailing vessels were made for Trans-Atlantic scenery: We can use them in current project.
