I have at least one area in my Silver Wings install where the mesh collapses to an elevation of 3.6'MSL for approximately 20 miles around the aircraft. Only the lakes retain elevation. While flying, the area ahead will collapse, and the area behind is restored. The problem area extends from just north of SAZS San Carlos De Bariloche, Argentina at S41*31.11', north to S28* 7.50', north of Santiago Chile. The anomaly seems to extend both east and west across the continent. I had installed Rhumbaflappy's 5, 7, and 8 LOD mesh and a LOD 9 for South America. After the South American mesh was installed about a month ago, I made several flights around the area and all looked OK. The same mesh installs are duplicated in Golden Wings but all seems normal. I have tried a number of things including replacing some of the LOD9 .bgl files. No luck. Any help or ideas appreciated. Thank you, John

Do you have any 3rd party scenery installed for the area that could be causing a mesh conflict? There is no mesh included with Silver Wings and since it is a texture package it should not care what mesh is installed.
I am 1500 miles from my FS9 computer and can't test anything so hopefully someone else will jump in.

Hello Tom, Thank you for responding. Yes, I have installed San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina by Marcelo Veneziale in both SW and GW3. The Golden Wings install displays the mesh correctly. There is a .bgl file for the Bariloche scenery that is supposed to go in the SAME folder. I copied the GW's .bgl over to the Silver Wings folder but that did not help. Unchecking the Bariloche scenery made no difference either. I will reinstall the Bariloche scenery and see if that makes a difference. I really appreciate you help, thank you.
Best regards, John

Golden Wings does include it's own mesh which Silver Wings does not. I suspect that is the difference. I can't tell you anything for sure though until I get home on Dec 3

Golden Wings does include it's own mesh which Silver Wings does not. I am glad you told me that. I assumed they were identical. I found a thread over at Cal-Classics that identified the cause of this problem. I should have known it was them Kiwis that done it. calclassic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=3382Andy (DC6tryer) had experience the same problem. He said it was a wayward flatten file in a New Zealand add-on mesh that affects South America! I had just installed the NZ mesh so I unchecked it and presto, the South American LOD9 mesh re-inflated. I am hoping that Andy knows how to fix the NZ mesh but the work-around is sufficient for now. Many thanks, and a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Best regards, John

Great news John, thanks and happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
RE: The difference between Golden Wings and Silver Wings, Golden Wings is a complete package with aircraft, textures, mesh and scenery as well as terrain to cover post WWII airports. Silver Wings is just textures. The textures are actually 95% the same as Golden Wings. Only the Urban textures have been modified to represent the growth of cities from 1928 to 1948.

This a very curious case. A Butterfly Effect in the world of Flight simulation!

This a very curious case. A Butterfly Effect in the world of Flight simulation! Yes, fascinating. I may have found the offending file in the NZ mesh. I deleated it and re-activated the mesh. Then I made flights around SAZS San Carlos De Bariloche, Argentina and Mount Cook on the southern island of New Zealand. All appeared normal. So far, I havenot found a good link to the NZ mesh author, Peter Palmain, but I plan more survey flights to investigate some clues I found in the download folder.

By the way, I have that same scenery installed ( and it is very good, I like the grass around the runways) and I saw no "'paranormal" activities at all around (but I have not the NZ mesh installed). It doesn't surprises too much anyway, I had a similar problem with a brazilian scenery from the "Cataratas del Iguazu" that created altitude problem around other zones in the area.
