Hello fellow timemachine riders: I came across this in the newspaper: A part of the Bayerische Fliegertruppe (Bavarian Airforce) was sent to Africa in 1917 to fly Photo Reckon for the Turkish Forces. They made hundreds of brilliant pictures which survived not only the chaotic times after the end of WW1 but also the bombing raids of WW2. They had simply been forgotten for a long time. Now they are recovered, sorted and digitalized. The origins remain in the Flugwerft Schleissheim, part of the German Museum near Munich and cradle of german aviation, but everybody can see them now online. Here is a direct link to the collection: www.gda.bayern.de/findmittel/ead/index.php?fb=102. Sorry it´s written in german...it is a bavarian archive My favorite is the last chapter: "Bodenaufnahmen" (Ground pictures). Notice the high quality, my pic is only a small part of the whole picture. (See the rectangle to the upper left which shows the full pic) This second picture I found at another place shows the members of 304 Bavarian Squadron leaving Vienna Main Station on their way to the unholy land. All you historians, geologists and eyecandy lovers, enjoy!
