How do I add smoke or steam to chimneys like the stuff coming out of those in the Vintage Scottish airfields I have?
I've been adding c/h plants to WW2 airfileds I'm making & a small column of escaping steam would look authentic if I knew how to do it..! Is there a tutorial for this? I've looked but can't see one anywhere. Thanks.

Terry,
I replied to your topic over a SimV before I saw this one..
There are 2 'smokestack' and 1 'steam' effects in the Effects folder.

Hello Dave .... thanks for info. I don't have SBuilder but if it makes adding as easy as Instant Scenery then I might just get it..... If I have any questions I'll ask you here. I'll try to add more boats round Islay having seen one there today....it looked wonderful chugging away as I left Duich Farm Aerodrome.....I've asked Opa to remind me what I must do as it's been so long since I added more the Seattle & Hong Kong.......;-(

Terry,
From Opa's Smoke Effect tutorial: He mentions Ron Jeffer's 'EzEffects.zip' at Avsim. If you install it you'll be able to add the included effects using Instant Scenery. There may be a couple of effects that you can use. Be sure to install the 'rons_ez_effects.txt' file along with the .bgl so you can see the effect names in the Instant Scenery list view, as effects are not visible until you restart the sim.
If you're using .xml to place the default effects 'fx_smokestack.fx' or 'fx_smokestack2.fx', they don't work as is. You'll need to edit the .fx files in notepad.
In the [Properties] section, near the top, look for this line and delete it..
