Normally I pick up and install the latest drivers Vin. Although our Flightsimulators are not mentioned, I have this idea that, if it's good for other games, maybe the sims benefit too. Could be just my feeling of being 'up-todate'. The day before yesterday I installed 295 and everything went wrong. It looked alright, at a certain point the main screen was blinking, telling me 'adjusting' three times, and then the same happened with my secondary screen, 'adjusting', black, 'adjusting', black, 'adjusting', black, 'adjusting', black, 'adjusting', black, .. it didn't stop! So cold reset, and my computer started normally but with one screen. I went back to the recoverypoint from a few hours earlier and now everything is fine again. Except, I'm, like you, still using 285! I will give it another try later, after cleaning my computer, defrag and so, maybe that was the problem. Normally there are no problems, the installer nicely removes the old version and installs the new one. Or I skip this one. I'm not using the other games. ;D Theo

Thank you Theo,my worst fears confirmed by your experience....I too had a problem with the currant 285.62...however worked that out ...So now I get wary of any new driver...So I think I'll pass on this one."It Its Not Broke?..Leave It Alone"....I'm sure the gamers will like it,for their games. But with our FS world,Gotta be Careful......Too bad NVDIA does not acknowledge,or address, the effects of new drivers on our FS simulators......This trail and error can be damaging, time consuming, ans expensive. This I know ,for the last mishap burned out my game card!....Warning! Warning Warning....Be Careful!....I used NFR,Nasty File Remover. 0.71 by Rudy Alex Kohn..Cleaned out the offending Driver!...................HOWGOZIT THEO?..Nice to hear from you...Vin!!..

Theo is fine, (just like his computer ;D) thank you. And to stay in terms of Flightsimming, I discovered the sceneries of LHSimulations, a Hungarian Scenery group the other day: Beautiful made, summer and winter textures and nice vegetation. i39.tinypic.com/2hf2ctk.png <-- big one! No Photoshopping, this is what you get! www.lhsimulations.hu/FS2004 and FSX! Theo

Like others I got funny results when installing 295. Nvidia support told me when installation starts to choose "custom install" and on the next screen choose "clean install". It solved my problems. Good Luck!

I think video drivers should always be installed cleanly. No chance of any over-writes that way. I also noticed 295 got a fair rating in regards to Flight.

Over the years I've learned that new drivers on an older card being used for an even older game will usually not have any beneficial effect.
In fact, there have been times when I've reverted to the previous version.

The way I do it (I just installed a GT 220 on my PC) is to simply disable NOT uninstall your current card. You would do this at the device manager. Then turn off, unplug power and turn on for static clear. After that you put in your new card, turn on your PC and install the new drivers. If you had on board video support, then you might have to disable that in the BIOS as well. This usually works very nicely.

Maybe Nvidia found out that something was wrong, because yesterday there was an email that a new driver is available, 296. A check through their website showed me that, with 285 there was no need to replace it; I was up to date! So, I skip this one for now. Theo
