Hi all,
Don`t mean to rain on the opening day parade... I read somewhere that this was going to be a "Free" game... to be fair the "game" part is free, but "adventure packs", aircraft, etc cost. I had hoped for better since many beta testers were telling us otherwise. Well, Microsoft is a business and is in business to make money. I'll see where this goes and how expensive it may be to fly anywhere except Hawaii....
I'm sure it will be wonderful, as advertized, and will leave it to others to espouse it's finer points. This is the only comment I'll make regarding the new "Flight",
Have Fun Guys! ...

Yes, as I have mentioned several times, the Big Island, the Icon & the Stearman are free along with a number of missions, challenges and aerocaches. Additional content must be purchased. Some people think the additional content is over-priced. I do not. that being said, I will not buy everything. Only what interests me
Thanks for your input, and it won't cost anything but time to check out the free part.

Just curious here, looking for a bit or information in regards to the add-ons.
First, how much scenery does the Hawaii package add to the base scenery. As I have flown to all the big island airports, I noticed many of the smaller fields don't have any buildings, only a runway. $20.00 isn't a big chunk to pay for good quality add-ons that make the adventure more intense.
Secondly, Tom, do you know when and if other scenery packs will be available soon?

First off, Greets to Tom from another old guy that likes Flight! With respects to the small fields on The Big Island, most of these are part-time use, agricultural based airports, privately owned sitting on farming land. So they won't show much, if anything. In a perfect world they would become active for about 2 months during the year and we'd see crop dusters flying out of them and pickups bringing supplies. The challenge for most all these airports is just finding them and one (HI31?) offers a sloping runway towards the water. So plan your takeoffs and landings accordingly!

Thanks meshman, I guess that answers that part somewhat, I am still interested in whether the Hawaii package improves things over the base free scenery. Is the package worth the $20, I realize you get additonal aircraft, but maybe they aren't what I want to fly.
I'll try to give you my take on how this program rates for me either tonight or tomorrow. I really don't mind having to pay for add-ons as this is quite like the original Flight Simulator, and all those add-ons in future versions, some that worked and some that didn't. As long as the price is kept reasonable.

I should mention I never got the ONLINE aspect to work, I have a MS account but the danged thing would not recognize it even though I can log into HS Live outside of the sim. I could not find the patience to waste any more time on it. Imho FSX looks much better anyhow with the myriad of add ons I have invested in. And as an aside the flight model of that odd little plane is pure fiction. MS FAIL.

Amazing, why am I getting the feeling that some aren't clicking those options, like we did in FS, and finding the niche they fit in, option-wise? The music, and voices can all be set to your liking, I mean, I even setup my joystick to work well with this program.
The key here is having a Windows Live account, or an Xbox LIVE account, LIVE is the driving force behind the program. LIVE gets you into the Marketplace, which is where you download all the item packs and the game, and I must say, it works rather well.

Flight will not appeal to everyone for a variety of reasons. That's OK. I find it co-exists quite well with a bunch of other sims on this computer and it's older brother on the other end of the desk. One more top notch entertainment package (and currently in my top 3).

Very true Tom, I'm getting my aerocache fix so all is good Flight is a VFR's dream, people who load it once and don't give it some stick time will miss all the little things e.g. Scratches on the windows Sound of waves lapping in the Icon with the engine off Swaying trees Sloping runways (at least one) The list goes on... (why are they all starting with "S" ? LOL) I'm keeping my eye on the marketplace microsoftflight.com/en-us/marketplace/Craig

I have the works installed. The basic P-51 won't get a lot of use, but the other 4 all have their missions

Happy Craig said what he said....once my CH USB Yoke, and my CH USB pedals were set up..all working...and flying their RV-6...Taxing,Take off cruse and landings were greatly improved from both FS9 and FSX.... I would not say it..,who would believe me??.but Craig did...and I concur...Strictly from the illusion of controlled Flight...I Found "FLIGHT" with greater fidelity to inputs.....Flying real world and Sims, all of them...I was impressed......The extended Hawaii scenery pak...very nice...Ford Field..as it really is....Clouds,weather, OK....Once you clean it up,Customize it as to what you want,..".UNGAME IT"..why ,if ya like HAWAII?...this is for you...I spent $19.95 for the scenery...and if I stopped with that?...Its OK with as is ,for me..Still have my hangers full in FS9 and FSX.Lost nothing, gained something..FREE!!...this Hawaii is somewhat like a vacation!....Will always go home, will always have FS9 and FSX waiting for me!!! Some like the Multi Player Feature...not my thing..strictly Solo..So Far That Is. ;D ..I think like..Curiosity killed the cat.this will spread...Lets face it...Tho we POO POO this..its our nature to give a look see..Most here are like Moths To a Flame!...We All remember when FS9 came along...and how about the Gnashing of teeth, pulling of hair with FSX...So lets get real...The Thing is free...and if ya never spent a nickle..its fun..its planes, its great scenery..its "FLIGHT".....Now my Computer has FS9 ,FSX, and now "FLIGHT"...And I'm ready for the next one to come along!!...Some day they will get it right.....And I feel for me,I now have a better experience with Desk top Flying and am enjoying the evolution of it! ..GAME or SIM..its Fun!!!...Cheers Men!

I flew for a month in the beta with just the base island and two planes. I logged 120 hours of flight time. I absolutely guarantee the rest of Hawaii and the Maule are well worth $35. The cargo and passenger missions in the full pack are exactly the kind of thing I was doing in FSX before Flight. Too bad Flight doesn't keep track of fuel and maintenance expenses, and pay me for the flights. Today I told my sister in law to let her 16 year old nephew know about Flight. I never even considered suggesting he try FSX. He's a serious gamer, but not the same kind of serious that applies to virtual airline pilots. Hook
