Allow me to introduce Christopher Tarana as the moderator of a new forum devoted to old flight sims. Christopher held onto FS98 longer than anyone I know and now has moved way up to FS2002 And if Christopher's name sounds familiar, it should. He was WebMaster of The Old Hangar all through its middle years. Now, all you antiquarians, step out of the shadows and join in!

Poor Tom! I'm still flying FS98 using the original Golden Wings! LOL! I tried to reinstall FS95 and you know what happened? It told me I already have a newer version of Flight Simulator installed on my system!! Spoilsports! ;D Right now under WinXP, I'm running Fs4, Fs98 with Golden Wings, Fs2000 with Golden Wings 2 and Fs2002! Thanks, Guys! Christopher

You're a very wise man Christopher!!!! Things were so much simpler back in the FS98 days. (smile)
Still one of my all time favorite scenery/add-on's was Bill's Mail Route in Illinois (around Moline I believe)...... and Tom making all the Maine Scenery. Someone was doing Ohio I believe.....just too long ago to remember.
I think I still have a closet full of 3 1/2 disks with some of that stuff still on them. (smile) Unfortunately..... I was never very good at marking the disks in the beginning.
Anyway.....Glad to see you in here!!!
Cheers,

Tradition and a continuity to the past is a wonderful thing. We go to museums ,and marvel at the timeless art and the skills...Most of all its contribution to art,life,Beauty.....Its my experience that great art is alive in our Sim World....The Boxes versions we had gotten, were only an incentive, and a palette of sorts for the talent,to create wonderful things...I think those who did ,will like this, the preservation of their art and craft.Weather very old,or brand new, they are a joy to have, on our desk top Flight Simulators!!.Good Luck Christopher, the custodian of fine art in our Sim world!....One more reason TOH is the greatest forum of its kind....None Like it or the fine people here !...Vin!

My old Win98 computer had a couple, but my new WinXP hasn't any! ;D Fortunately, a friend of mine with a computer shop converts my old 3.5 disks into CD's! Del Hopkins was doing scenery for FS2000 for all the states. He did a set of vintage states for Fs98 too! Thanks, sgtmajor! ;D

WOW!! I just found this. Great idea, I just wish I could recover those old FAT 32 files with this W7 x64 install. Any suggestions would be great. I think FS2002 & FS2004 are my favorites.
Thanks for the kudos Chris. I remember many of those scenery designers that have been named, all great works.
Glad to see you have something of your own Chris, you did a bang up job with The Old Hangar. It was the place to go years ago, and still is.

As long as the simulator will run under Win7 you won't have any issue with FAT vs NTFS! A lot of my old DOS programs from my Win98 HD that was Fat16 were dragged over to WinXP with no problems at all! ;D I think the hardest part will be getting old DOS applications and games to run under Win7! My only suggestion to adding software to Win7 that's not Win7 native is to NEVER install anything into Program Files!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!EVER!!!!!!! ;D But that's only a suggestion! Thanks, John! Christopher

Its not the installs that worries me, its all those disks laying around that have Scenery FS98, Scenery FS2000, Scenery FS2002. They were mostly written in FAT 32 and I can't seem to read the disks with my W7 x64 rig.
