I've been having fun on the ice for the past few days, but it was about time I did something productive. So, I picked up some passengers at Alsek River Strip for a short jaunt up to the Situk Strip just East of Yakutat. As usual, I set up a flight plan where I do stop-and-gos at all the small strips along the way - it's more fun! ;D I love these dirt or gravel strips with lots(!) of tall trees surrounding them. Here is the departure from Alsek River Strip: My first touch-and-go at the Tanis River Strip, nestled in among the trees - lovely! There is no getting away from the glaciers. That's the Chamberlain Glacier off to my right: And the Yakutat Glacier in the distance: I also did a touch-and-go at the Harlequin Lake and Dangerous River Strips. Yes, that is really the name of the river. Here is my departure from Dangerous River: I was going to do a touch-and-go at the enormous Yakutat runway - not very difficult - before my final destination of Situk Strip: Unfortunately, with all the storms, we have been getting heavy rains and plenty of black-outs for most of the week. The power went out just as I was taking off from Yakutat, so I didn't get to finish my flight and drop off my passengers. But, that's O.K., I had a lot of fun and a great flight. Best regards. Luis
