It's a shame that RSC/Dovetail aren't more creative when it comes to their routes....they don't show much originality in the North American region, preferring to issue their versions of what has gone before for Microsoft Train Simulator - witness Horseshoe Curve, Marias Pass, Stevens Pass, Surfliner, Cajon Pass and Donner Pass. So it was no surprise to read that they are going to issue a "Canadian Passes" package.....and this is obviously based on what Maple Leaf Tracks (3rd. party MSTS developer) did for MSTS several and more years ago. I'll buy it...no doubt about that...simply because they have improved (read, "made more realistic") the simulation of the train-braking system with the new (for this package) ES44 locomotives. Also, Kicking Horse Pass was a classic when released by Maple Leaf Tracks - the first in their Canadian Pacific trilogy of KHP, Rogers Pass and Shuswap division...each linked to the next, as in real life. (Classic then and classic now....the only representation of this part of the CP route.) Anyway, read all about it! Canadian Passes

I saw this Bruce....and agree with all your statements above. I had the KHP routne in MSTS....was probably my favorite. I too will most likely purchase at some point in time....however, there's about 10 items on my "wishlist" that I will most likely pick up first as soon as one of the big sales happen. (smile)

I see it was released today.....I too added it to my "wishlist" however, I still have about 10 other items on there also. If I remember correctly, I think Steam has a sale around Father's Day sometime....or at least a summer sale.
I purchased enough "things" during the Christmas sale to more than keep me busy for a very long time. (smile)

I downloaded it last night (Monday, my time) and so far it looks good. The upgraded braking physics (Easy = as we are used to, Medium = a bit more involved, Hard = closer to realism) are acceptable but what a pity that they only looked at the braking and didn't also address the acceleration and over-the-top power of the loco.
But that aside, it's a nice modern version of what Maple Leaf Tracks came out with about 10 years ago for MSTS and certainly lends itself to some good end-to-end Scenarios....as well as switching Scenarios in the yard at Golden.

That's sounds great!! I do have it in my "wishlist"..........now if only I'd wish to leave it there until a sale. (smile)
Well...hopefully someone will eventually come along like A2A Simulations did for Flightsim. Wouldn't that be Grand!!
I've purchased every Steam Engine TS2014 has to offer. (At least I think I have.) Some are VERY nicely done....others...what a waste of $$$$. I do enjoy the challenge of pulling weight up a steap grade while keeping an eye on all the works. However, using the basic same setup's, I've found there is a drastic change in dynamics between some engines.
Keeping in mind of course....I have NO real world reference, when it comes to running steam engines...(smile)...but some seem "more realistic" than others....but I enjoy them all just the same. It is a game after all, and keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. (smile)
Thanks again for the update....the screenshots I've seen look fairly decent. Perhaps I'll eventually get back to North America...but I'm enjoying the heck out of the U.K. and Europen routes.
Perhaps, someone will make an Australian "end-to-end" route someday. I'd buy that one immediately!! (smile)
Cheers,

(smile) Cheers, If I thought I had the skill to mould Google Maps & DEM information into a route using the editing stuff, Steve, I'd have a crack at the Blue Mountains line (Sydney to Lithgow). If created by someone such as the chap who did WCML and the Port Line, it would be a wonderful Aussie route. Route - Sydney to LithgowBruce

I wish for New England railroads. From the 40s-50s. With plenty of steam. Maine Central, Bangor & Aroostook, Grand Trunk oh my.
Yes the Blue Mountain Line would be great too as would some South African lines
