While doing some research into scenery formats for my personal Train Simulator railroad, I came across this home-spun video of the E. B. T R. R. (East Broad Top Railroad). I was researching track ballast, structures, and foliage of the native area.
Its located in the middle of Pennsylvania on RT. 522, an old narrow gauge (3ft) coal hauling road. My personal railroad is based on this real life railroad, but uses standard gauge track as I haven't been able to come up with usable narrow gauge track and equipment for TS2015. The video has some excellent shots and great whistle sound sections that really show the narrow gauge railroad ambiance. I hope you like it as much as I did.

REALLLLLLLYYYYY Good Stuff John!!!! Once again, that's just another Railroad I hadn't heard of.
I'm still "hoping" to get to the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad next year, however, that seems so far away right now. However, I'd love to ride one of the old rail systems out east. Especially during the fall. Can't imagine how lovely a trip that would be.
Thanks again............I'll have to send the video on to my brother-in-law. He's an old Easterner and loves anything railroad, so perhaps he's heard/seen this already.
Cheers,
EDIT: BTW..... I had forgotten all about my Durango-Silverton route for Train Sim. (smile) Found it...installed, and looks as good as ever in TS2015. It's been a couple of computer builds since I last had it installed, however, I forgot how nicely it was done. Can't remember where I picked it up.....most likely, "Just Trains." I've gotten so use to Steam, I forget sometimes I have some other routes as well.
Thanks Again!!

I should reinstall the Durango-Silverton route. That was fun. Unfortunately the additional rolling stock never materialized.

John, that EBT video was great. I need to convince my brother to make that trip.

Yah Tom, I really loved the whistles. I'm not too certain I would make that trip in the near future as I believe the EBT hasn't operated commercially since 2012. Even the Friends of the East Broad Top Railroad website only shows work events for members, no real events for the public. The last issue of The Timber Transfer magazine was published in the summer of 2013, but the newsletter is still active as of last month. I would have to say the steam rail tours have ceased because of economics, and the fact there was only one locomotive still able to do the job in 2012, and it may have problems that can't be recovered from. The Friends of the East Broad Top Railroad website is www.febt.org/, they are the group that manages the railroad. There are still great things to see there when visiting, one is the all belt driven machine shop. I wasn't trying to discourage you, just giving you some info so you won't be disappointed when you get to Rock Hill/Orbisonia, its a great historical area.

I should reinstall the Durango-Silverton route. That was fun. Unfortunately the additional rolling stock never materialized. I just re-installed the route last week. Have only spent about an hour or so, however, it really is a nice route. That's the one route in real life that's still on my "bucket" list so to speak. There's a "zip line" tour I have been trying to get to for the past couple summer's, however, something has always come up. Anyway, you have to ride the Durango-Silverton train to get to the zip line site, so thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. (smile) Perhaps the summer of 2015 will be the year. (smile) Cheers,
