By chance....has anyone ordered or downloaded any of this guy's payware or freeware stuff? www.bllw.net/I think I read somewhere that he had built some items for the Old Railworks sim.....and near as I can tell....it appears this would work with Train Sim 2014...... Anyway....some very nicely detailed items. I've heard there are some old style Green Pullman cars that are nicely done. Searching the internet, I ran across a post that linked this site.....one I had never heard of, so was curious of some of you more "adventurous" folks have tried. I may waste $5 bucks and give it a shot....... (smile) Cheers,

He has a good reputation as far as I can tell. I've been tempted on several occasions but I'd really like to find Maine Central repaints for them. Some of the cars have been released in the past year so he is still working.

I'm returning home tomorrow from a week business trip, and next week I'm in the office (home) all week, so plan on buying one of his packages and taking a look. The Price is right....and I saw some Norfolk Western stuff in there, so will probably go that route.

Hey Steve, I had some of Thomas Pearce and the gang's stuff at Broadway Limited back in MSTS and it was well done for the time. From the looks of the pics at the site these are just ported over versions of the MSTS stuff. Dick Cowen at Britkits does the same thing, but updates the textures to make the experience a bit more pleasurable, and has loads of different road names and tools to allow for personal road names, not to mention worth the money. I'm not trying to say BLLW is ripping people off, what I am saying is watch what you buy as these port-overs usually have very similar textures from units sold back in the days of MSTS. $5.00 to $7.00 isn't unreasonable. So, if you are expecting the rivets and seams to show as 3D surfaces on the units you buy, you may want to look elsewhere. Another thing, these port-overs use older technologies and have a tendency to create a bit of lag because of this, so keep that in mind.
I can vouch for Dick Cowen's work as I have some of his units, worth the money and perform well in TS2015. When I buy units that don't have any reviews or have troll reviews I usually will buy only one unit, test it out and see of I like it. If it performs well and what I am expecting then I will buy more from the designer. Gawd, I can't tell you how many things for these railroad applications I have bought in the past and was totally disappointed.

Thanks John....Great review, and exactly what I was looking for.
Not sure if I'll give it a go or not. Reading the installation process, it appears you can only use them if you create a scenerio..... I was looking more for something I could click install....and the items would be available during a "Quick Drive" Custom setup.
Hmmm.....might have to look around a bit more.
I too wish I had all the money I spent on junk add-on's. (smile) I used to have a whole folder full of aircraft add-on's I purchased....installed.....flew around the patch a time or two, and deleted from the system. (smile) It didn't happen too often.....but then it again, it happens.
Cheers,

I'm glad to hear your review John. I didn't realize they were ports. My hesitation was because I have never seen them used in scenarios and I have never seen repaints, two indicators of quality.
I also agree with your assessment of BritKits stock. Lovely modeling and he keeps updating them. The cabs are a little MSTS but functional. And US Steam is hard to find elsewhere.

Well....I did purchase the Keystone Legends H21a coal cars. Package 8 contained the Norfolk Western 1951 set. As I said before....my brother-in-law worked for them (Norfolk Southern when he retired)....for over 40 years. So since I've been looking at the one scenery package, I thought I'd go ahead and pick up the coal cars.
The purchase went smoothly ($7.50).....the install went as advertised.....however, I can't seem to find the cars. (smile)
You do have to create a route and manually move the cars to that route, etc., so not exactly knowing what I'm looking for, however, I have to find them first. (smile)......and TRUST ME.......I'm sure I don't know what I'm doing. In fact......I'd bet $$$$ that I don't know what I'm doing.....but a little more reading and fumbling around, and I'll let you know how they look. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.....(smile)....but I'm not ready to throw the towel in as yet.....especially since I'm pretty sure that it's 99% of my misunderstanding on how to install or where to look. (smile)
I had sent the author an e-mail before purchasing, inquiring about Green Pullman cars. Received a very nice and informative e-mail in return letting me know he's currently "pulled them" from the site as he's wanting to re-do or update, so perhaps there's still hope for those someday.
Once again....That's why I like the "Click" and it's installed and ready to go in Quick Drive.
Cheers,

Steve, try the custom quick drive button, it will inventory all your rolling stock. Choose Diesel and place the loco(s) you want up front then go to wagons. A search for h21a should bring them up. You can add a few and save the consist. You'll find it under the custom button and you should be able to drive the consist on any appropriate route.
I've done a lot of consists like that as it is the easiest way to get some freeware into the game.

Tom....that's what I usually do too, however, for some odd reason, it doesn't seem to show the h21a's........the instructions that came with the download states that you have to create a route and add that way.....however, that seems rather odd, as like you, I would think it would show the entire inventory.
On the bright side.......I copied a route and tried to manually add the h21's.......couldn't find them there either, so obviously, I'm doing something wrong. I'll figure it out.
Cheers,
Edit: Just as I suspected all along.......operator error. Installation was as advertised, however, due to my not paying attention, the files were installed on the C: drive in Railworks\assets. Would have been perfect, had it gone into the Steam\railworks\assets. (smile)
Moved to the proper location and all is right in the Train Sim world again, and yes...the quick drive works perfectly. (smile) What a bonehead!!!! (smile)

Okay.....Installed the cars and found them, etc., etc., etc. (smile)
However, I'm not sure if it's TS2015 or caused by the new product.....having some strange things happen.
Such as.......pulled out of the station with loaded cars and once I got on the main line....looked out the window and the cars are gone. They show on the hud....but no cars. Went to spot view....again, only the engines.
Went back to the station, and the cars are there...but can't hook up.
Delete goes the product.
Oh well.....isn't the first time I wasted $7.50............Geezzzzz!!!!!!
Cheers,

There's an easy fix for that. Well easy is a relative term The problem is dependency on kuju couplers. Try the cars on an older route as a test and then you can edit the route you want to use them on to add Kuju USRailsimulator to the dependency list. I jsut read about this a couple days ago at RWA I think but now I can't find the post. or better still, you may be able to edit the hopper bin files to find a coupler in the RSC folder. Sorry if I am a bit incoherent I am not at my computer and don't have anything to look at for examples.

Steve, I saw a post somewhere about the disappearing cars and the fix had something to do with updating the graphics drivers, just a thought.

Steve, I saw a post somewhere about the disappearing cars and the fix had something to do with updating the graphics drivers, just a thought. I'll have to check into it....but I generally am pretty good about keeping updated drivers and just updated recently, however,.........I can't say if it was before or after I had installed the files. (smile) Either way...........nice info to have. Thanks!! Cheers,
