Most UK engines are driven on the left side and the signals and signs are on the left of the track. I have heard UK station people say "All Aboard" and the Guard (our Conductor) will say "Right Away, Driver!" Here's a shot of the 7MT cab Train Simulator 2017 is what I use and it is on sale for the next 42+ hours. Here's a link store.steampowered.com/app/24010/You will need a (FREE) Steam account. The Standard edition comes with 4 routes(none of them are steam era): Hamburg-Lübeck Railway in Germany, LGV: Marseille - Avignon in France, North Jersey Coast Line in the U.S, and South Wales Coastal Route in the UK all with appropriate rolling stock and scenarios to get you started. Like FS there are a million add-ons both free & pay. They have sales so I seldom pay full price for anything.

Tom, I was just about to say how much better those pics would be if there were people around when I spotted the last one in your series. Are they just static models or do they move? The Orbx people library is brilliant in FSX with moving figures singly or in groups. Wonder if they could be used in TS sceneries?

There are a variety of passenger models that walk about the platform. I don't think the animations compare in quality with Orbx animations but they do populate the platforms. There are also simple animation and static "railfans" along the route. The variety and quality is pretty much up to the route creator. I don't think any FSX graphics libraries can be used in TS. You would need the source code I think to convert them. I'm attaching a pic of a couple checking their watches to see if the passing freight is on time That's the most common animation. And not meant to be seen from this angle or distance. From the cab as you pass you would just see a couple moving a bit ner their parked pickup.

On one of the Scenarios I created for TS2015 (based on a real-life video by Pentrex of a cab ride up the Cajon Pass when BNSF were constructing the third track) I was able to use a lot of animated workmen and objects such as front-end loaders, which makes the ride so much more realistic than just having static people.

I agree. Even simple animations add to the immersion factor. You get the feeling you are not alone. Someone was working on some animated sheep and cattle but I guess never finished. That would be a great touch too.

I've been meaning to post something in here for a week or more and just haven't gotten around to it. I recently saw a note in TS2017 for a release of the Stroudley A1/A1X Terrier engines. Something about them really appealed to me so I purchased and have been very pleased.......but WAIT!!!! Don't go purchasing them yet....at least not from Steam. (smile) If you go to their web-site (Victory Works).. steamsoundssupreme.com/ I believe they are about the same price.....but there are also some nice Livery packs that are inexpensive. Their livery packs will not work with the Steam version of the train....(not sure why)......but I made the mistake of purchasing through Steam....then tried to purchase one of the livery packs and it wouldn't install. I ended up buying the Main Pack from Victory Works and I must say....I'm not disappointed.....I just chocked it up to supporting a worthy developer. (smile) These little engines work very nicely with my Isle of Wight scenery. (They come with a couple scenario's for this scenery also.) Cheers,
