It's times like this I truly wish I was more educated where I could just find the perfect words to say.......but at last....all here at The Old Hanger know that's not true. (smile)
Just know dear friend that my thoughts and prayers are always with you.....and looking forward to hear of more updates as things progress. The aircraft.....ahhh....that will sort itself out over time. Geezzz....I wish I had a dollar for every "hindsight" thing I've done in my life. I'd hire Bill Gates to be my yard guy!!! (smile)
As far as health.....sounds like you have a great handle on everything.....but know we're all here in support and spirit, every step of the way!!
Best Wishes Always!! Steve

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and support for which I'm deeply touched and truly grateful. Time now to buckle up and prepare for the next leg and if its a bit turbulent, so be it. The journey will continue of that I have no doubt.

Thanks Roger. Was given the opportunity to return home on Friday after nearly 4 weeks in hospital so jumped at it even though I'm still feeling a bit sore and fragile. Now need a couple weeks to get over the surgery while waiting for news on the other thing. Found out today that the 'local' lab in Bordeaux doesn't have the expertise to accurately define the nature of the lymphoma as these things are apparently very complex, so my samples have been despatched to the Laboratoire Nationale for detailed investigation. I have nothing but gratitude and admiration for the way the people here are dealing with the problem and continue to be reassured of a positive outcome.

Wouldn't you know it. This coming week is probably one of the most important in my life, ever, as I have a whole series of medical appointments lined up for this and that. So on Thursday my usually ultra-reliable car goes and lets me down. How do they always do that? Luckily my excellent and much-loved friends here have already loaned me transport to see me through - my pal's beautifully restored 2CV that he loaned me once before when I was visiting him while he was holed up in hospital a few months ago - so I've been able to remain circumspect and retain my sense of humour. But it's uncanny how cars always manage to choose the perfect time to go wrong, isn't it

I know just what you mean. My Jaguar certainly has a warped sense of humour. The gearbox has no syncro on first, so if you are stopped, push in the clutch and select first you are rewarded with a dismal 'crunch'. So I normally select second to stop the gears from spinning, and then quickly shift to first. Every now and again it does not engage, presumably because the gears have stopped edge on. So then you have to go through the whole procedure again. Irritatingly enough, this only seems to happen when I am at traffic lights that have just gone green and I have some impatient driver behind me! I am sure that it is not just my imagination! Perhaps it is the Jaguar's way of saying "Enough of this city crawling, let's get out on the open road, where I belong!".

Cars have personalities........they aren't machines, you know. I used to carry a small hammer in my MG Midget (yeah...that one over there <---) for those times when the starter-motor solenoid stuck, which was usually after midnight just outside the front of my girlfriend's (now wife) parents house. The term "banging" took on a whole new meaning!
