I hadn't purchased anything from STEAM for quite a long time....(smile) however, saw this loco released by "Reppo" and I'm quite fond of his work. I started getting interested in electric loco's a year or so ago (European)...but never really followed U.S. electric trains much. Growing up in the Midwest, I was always use to seeing the big diesel's so never gave electric much notice. I did purchase the New York / New Haven route a while back and enjoy that route....so when I saw "Reppo" did a loco for it....it was a "must purchase" for me. (smile) Here's a short video to show how to start from a "Cold and Dark" state while also giving you a good preview of the texturing etc. Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=3b19Bf7OOkQCheers,

......Growing up in the Midwest, I was always use to seeing the big diesel's so never gave electric much notice...... Steve.... A beautifully-made model.....very, very nice. Unlike you, I became quite at home with "electrics" - when living & working in Sydney (1964 - 1976) we commuted on electric trains and when in the Blue Mts. (1976 - 1984) the commuting was via inter-urban electrics" and the coal trains over the mountains were hauled by electric locos.

How interesting Bruce!! To be honest....I've rarely seen an electric loco here. Yes....I know there are quite a few out east....however, about the only place I've noticed them locally is either in San Diego or Los Angeles......always commuter trains......never any freight. Isn't that odd......(smile)
As far as this model goes.....I'm REALLY enjoying it as it's nicely done..........BUT........my only complaint thus far is it appears only the "Short Hood" version works. The opposite side of the cabin does not appear to be functional which is somewhat disappointing to me.....but I'm sure I'll live. (smile)

Must read manual. Must read manual. Really. I think 1/4 mile is my record so far... I had the same issue......I was fully releasing the brake handle and would get into an "Over Charged Brake Pipe" condition. My first mistake....(smile) Once I figured that out I still have problem(s) with the "train speed control" switch. However, I've found if I turn that switch to disable.....then my problems have been solved. With the switch enabled, I get the warning lite and I think I just don't react quickly enough. Figure that.......(smile) Anyway.....that solved my issues............I just leave the Automatic brake valve in the "Running" position and turn off the "train speed control". The more I use this engine....the more I'm enjoying it, although I'm primarily just doing "Quick Drive's" and haven't attempted any of the scenario's as yet. Cheers,
