Bloody good that! Missed it the first time around. Now that's what I call entertainment. What year was that from?

.....What year was that from? Not sure, Roger. It was Des O'Connor doing the hosting...whatever year that was.

Bruce, a quick google said it was the Royal Variety Performance in 2009. The ventriloquist apparently was an ex-kids TV show performer who was clearly very clever and talented but then seemed to just disappear into oblivion.
Apparently Des recently went on stage live with Jimmy Tarbuck but at 85 is sadly now in poor health and is a shadow of his former self.

Yeah....I did a quick Google myself after posting. Apparently the bloke wasn't really a "ventriloquist" in the true sense - he sported that stick-on bushy moustache to cover the fact that his lips moved! He retired from the business many years ago, it seems. ....Des recently went on stage live with Jimmy Tarbuck but at 85 is sadly now in poor health and is a shadow of his former self. Gee.....age has a way of sneaking up on us all. I recall watching the Des O'Connor Show here in Oz way back. It was always popular. One thing I miss most from television is the variety show genre. The rubbish that passes for entertainment these days is the TV equivalent of rotting meat, in my opinion.
