Well, while I'm at it - Just finished up the 2nd annual on my '56 C172. Painless! Just had to replace a light bulb. Not bad for 100 hours of flying I think. Flew into Stearman Field for a burger and an awesome atmosphere full of, you guessed it, Stearman(s?). Definitely a must see if you're ever in the area. Don't mind the intro - long story. This trusty 172 has this route coming up in June. Going be close to 20 hours of flying, nearly to the Canadian border. Hopefully some nice footage to follow! Keep flyin' and simmin' all.

Looks like an interesting route coming up there kobe - I'll keep a watch out for that. Love the lazy sound of that old engine - my Rotax 100 hp sounds frantic in comparison! But the upside is that as my Savannah is a light 2-seater, I'm up and away in about 50 metres!
I have a flight planned for next week-end back to the UK from the Dordogne, just 5½ hours each way. Trouble is compared to last year's season, which I missed because of my health, the weather is atrocious for flying this year and at the monent it looks as though even though I'm aiming for a 3-day window for the flight north (19-21st May) it won't be on because of wind and rain. Hope you have more luck with yours!

...Flew into Stearman Field for a burger and an awesome atmosphere full of, you guessed it, Stearman(s?). Definitely a must see if you're ever in the area.... One thing I utterly detest about 21st. century digital video technology is that every prop-driven aircraft looks as if they are fitted with scimitar blades revolving at 10 rpm. I know, I know....its the digital recording that does it and there is very little (if anything) that can be done to give us the traditional burred image of a prop at high speed. But I don't have to like it. Here's the reason it happens:- www.popularmechanics.com/flight/a18207/why-digital-pictures-of-propellers-look-so-weird-explained-in-one-gif/

But the upside is that as my Savannah is a light 2-seater, I'm up and away in about 50 metres! Ah! That is pretty nice. Although I can say I've had this bird up in shy of 90 meters with a steady headwind and probably about 45 meters at a complete stop in a 38 knot headwind (good story!). As for the rolling shutter effect, I've always found that interesting... without digging into it, I had assumed it was something related to Nyquist's theorem that I spent too much time on in college. Now, in a shameless plug for Garmin I'll have to add the fact that lenses do exist to reduce the problem. Although I haven't tried it personally. Prop Filter
