The Last Post, known to Americans as Taps, is such an iconic air that it is almost sacrilege to think of playing it on any other instrument than a bugle. This YouTube clip, www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqHx1CDRQkc shows a young lady playing it on the violin. In my opinion, the violin gives to the air an atmosphere of sadness and melancholy that is so necessary to the tune. I almost feel that it sounds better on the violin. Let me know what you think. .

Thanks Nige!! I must admit....I do believe that was the first time I heard it played on the violin, but delightful. That has always been the one instrument....that if played well, has me spell bound. Being a trumpet player, I played "taps" many times over the years. I had a brief tour of duty with the 3rd MAW (Marine Air Wing) band stationed at El Toro, CA. during my first enlistment. (Long story....smile) We were tasked with playing all the Marine funerals around the Southern California area back then....sometimes we'd have two or three in one day. Anyway....yes...I've had my share of playing taps. (smile) Again...many thanks for the clip! Cheers!! BTW......You might also enjoy this clip; www.youtube.com/watch?v=83zvu1-b8jo
