Strange as it may seem, this forum had its 21st birthday this past Sunday. I think this is the 4th form that it has taken over that span. I started it in 1998 as a fan site dedicated to the original Golden Wings (FS98) and here we are, a few survivors of a long strange trip.
I relented and upgraded to Windows 10 on my sim computer. I haven't put my fist through the monitor yet so we'll see what happens when FS2020 becomes real. Might just be new life for my yoke & pedals (or my antique FF2 joystick.)
Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, etc. Bruce, I hope your Summer is gentle and no record setting blizzards for us in the Northern Hemisphere.
Twenty-One years?!!! Good Lord! That is outstanding. Happy 21st. to The Old Hangar and to everyone still associated with this forum.
Tom, thank you for your good wishes. I certainly hope that Summer is more benevolent than the Spring we are about to leave. We have woken to bush-fire smokey skies every morning for the past 21 days and with no rain relief in sight. So here's hoping. All the best for your Winter, too.
I am biting the bullet early in the new year and, in anticipation of MS's cessation of support for Win7, I will be ordering a new PC from my local tecchie to be built specifically for FS2020. My original intent was to go to an XBox One but I just cannot get used to (a)sitting metres away from the screen (no matter the large size) and (b) not using a keyboard. I have been playing a couple of games on a PS4 (courtesy of my son) but have realised that, after using a PC since 1989, I am a PC person, not a console person.
So be it and, at my age, I don't have another 30 years to become accustomed to using a console!
Belated happy birthday TOH! I keep looking at the MSFS 2020 forum at the Sim Outhouse and I'm becoming more and more drawn to this sim. Glad to hear you'll be going fs 2020 Tom and Like Bruce I'll be running it on a Windows 10 pc.
WOW....21 Years!! Seems like just yesterday I was flying Bill Lyons mail service aircraft from Chicago to Moline, IL. using that wonderful scenery and following the Mail Route beacons. To this day, that was some of my fondest memories of Flightsimming!!
Like others.....I keep reading and watching with great interest everything I can find on FS2020. As much as I try, I cannot help hoping and feeling like a young kid waiting for Christmas. (smile)
I switched to a Windows 10 machine about 2 years ago......will never go back. Had no issues and everything seems to run very smoothly.
My best wishes to you Tom......and all my brothers and sisters here at the Old Hanger!!
