I believe my problem is different enough to start a new topic. This problem happens with all of my Custom Classic aircraft, the three I originally purchased (Apache, Travel Air, and Ultralights), as well as the ones I downloaded the other day.
I first noticed the problem with the Travel Air, it seemed to be at it's worst.
I could load up the aircraft and experience stuttering, or maybe fly around a bit and then it would start stuttering.
I think that it is definately related to the CD/Radio thing because when I would turn it on and listen to a CD or any of the presets, the stuttering would stop.
A few minutes later it would be back, and I'd have to fidget(sp) with the radio again.
I will try disabling that gauge and see if it works, although it didn't work for the other guy.
I have also experienced the limiting the frame rate thing. I keep it at 20, anything more and alot of my Carenado purchases freak out, as well as the Flight1 Cessna 172.

Also, I was wondering if there was any way to customize these freeware releases, so I don't have to fly the Luscombe as John Simmer, lol. Also, should I get past the radio stuttering problem, I don't think any of the free releases are configured properly to play the AM/FM sound clips.

On the issue of the Radio/CD gauge, what kind of sound card do you have? And actual card like a creative labs for example or built in sound with a chip on the main board? Some chips do not support Direct-x well enough for the Radio/CD gauge. I tested with the author of the gauge extensively and the only solution was for me to buy a sound card.
On the issue of the Frame rate counter, I stand by my position, but that may not work for you.
RE: Customizing, the texture files are all in your main texture folder with names like luscp.bmp, pietplate.bmp, pa23plate, pa23plate2 etc. They can be loaded into a paint program and you can add your name etc
RE: Radio/CD configuration, I believe the included docs tell you how to load your choice of wavs or mp3s and since it was an evolving thing, each plane is a little different.

Luckily, I am proficient in Photoshop, and I got those custom plates knocked out.

Excellent Did you find everything you needed? How did you make out with frame rates?

Yes, the files were right there. I'll see about disabling the radio gauge. I think I have an el cheapo Sound Blaster card, but not sure. I seem to recall wanting to hook up my old CH Yoke and Pedals and not having the old style connections on my computer. I bought a cheap video card with a gameport. So I guess I have a sound card, but I know before that, I had onboard sound. Anyways, here are some screenshots of my edits.

Just wanted to let you know that removing the radio gauge worked.
