My old eyes are having problems reading some of the gauges due to the reflections built into the gauges in the 3D cockpits. Is there a way to eliminate these reflections so the gauges are more readable?

PS: Bill, your aircraft are addictive. I can't seem to pull myself away from the computer any more. Thanks for all your great work.

If you read the doc file for each plane you will find a section (in most if not all) headed somewthing like "Older Video Cards" That will tell you what to do. It is just a substitution of textures. The substitutes remove the reflective glass

I downloaded all your classics from AVSIM and none of the zip files contain the zip file referred to in the documentation. Was this only included back when these were payware?

No, they should be in the Custom Classics Extras folder. They are in my test download. What planes are you specifically having problems with?

No, they should be in the Custom Classics Extras folder. They are in my test download. What planes are you specifically having problems with? I, too, think something is missing in documentation. The HTML file gives some information about the plane, the "hotspots", etc., but it doesn't show how to get the fueling can to show, for example. Also, there are no "hotspots" for the fuel sump, the engine cowl, the towbar or the rear door. There also is no indication how the Mixture control is to work. (In Bill's Waco, it works as you would expect with the mouse. In the Tri-Pacer, I have to click Shift-Control-F3 to richen; Shift-Control-F2 to lean.) These aren't intended as criticisms; just examples of the type of information I believe is missing. There is also no explanation of "Virtual Plus". I've been flying the Waco for well over a year now and it probably has more hours on it than, well, let's say it probably needs an engine overhaul!!! Seabreeze

I figured out part of it, at least. For "Virtual Plus" to work, you must be in Windowed mode, rather than full screen.
I had used Active Camera in the past, but now use TrackIR with Vector Expansion. I don't believe the two are compatible.
Still don't know whether the Mixture control is supposed to work with the mouse.

As indicated in the docs, you MUST be in the VC view to see the hotspots. They do not exist in the spot view. Using active camera or the included arrow movement gauge you can leave the plane and do a walkaround. You will find all the hotspots indicated in the picture BUT ONLY in the VC view.
Setting the parking brake displays the fueling tank.
I have the CH Yoke so have noticed no problem with the mixture control. Maybe someone else can speak up. It could be a problem gauge.
Please feel free to ask any questions about anything that is unclear about the Custom Classics line. We may not always have a satisfactory answer but we will try

A assume we're talking about the PA22?
You need the Battery power to be on to drain the sump, add fuel, and check oil, and for me, I'm always in Full Screen. The fueling drum appears when I open the cowl for me.

I never use the mouse to set mixture control, throttle or propeller pitch, I find it very difficult to set it accurately that way. I assigned joystick buttons to them, it is much easier.
These are the assignments on my joystick (Logitech Force Feedback) Button 1 (trigger): brakes Buttons 2-3 (right thumb): Elevator trim (You NEED to trim with a FF joystick, I love that!) Buttons 4-5 (right thumb): Prop control Buttons 6-7 (joystick base): Mixture Throttle is of course set with the joystick's throttle control. It works perfectly that way for me. All the other controls (differential brakes, flaps, gear, lights,...) are done with the keyboard or mouse.
To enable the V+ arrows in the virtual cockpit of the tripacer if you don't have ActiveCamera, pan down to your kneeboard. Click on the sentence on the "checklist" that says something like "Virtual+ arrows". That will enable the arrows in the upper portion of your screen. Use them to get out of the aircraft and complete your checklist.

Just discovered that the Mixture does work off of the wheel on the Mouse.

Tom, I am also have the same gauage glare problem.... and it concerns the Freewae version of the Gruman Goose. There was no extras folder generated by the .exe when the model was installed... or was I looking in the wrong place?

Tom, Never mind.. found it... I did so by re-installing the file again ... but since I am old and too many files confuse me... LOL, installed it into a temporary location... to see what all was contained.. and there was the "extras file and there is the zip file.... will install it and the delete the rest of the temp stuff.

I too would like to remove gauge glare but I think there may be different types of glare between aircraft models here. I don't have a terribly old vid card (Geforce 4 Ti 4200) and have no problems with any glare issues with the Goose.
The glare I would like to remove can be seen on the VC gauges of the Luscombe and PA-22 to name a couple that come to mind.
I'm speaking of the reflection which acts like an animated gif image is the best way I can describe it. It sits still for a while, moves around a while and then sits still again. It doesn't seem like it's a graphic problem but very much intended to be this way but I would personally prefer clear gauges as I find the moving reflection a little distracting.
Is there any way to remove this as I have been through all the documentation and could only find refrences regarding older video cards and the Goose type problem which I think the reflections I'm wanting to remove are an altogether different thing.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mark.

Those gauges are a new technology Bill has developed. I don't know of a way to remove the dynamic reflections.

Have you tried going to OPTIONS/SETTINGS/DISPLAY/AIRCRAFT, and un-checking "Reflections"?
