I was just digging thru some old source files and found this... i have quite a few planes that look like this mapping has never really tripped my trigger, not being much of a painter doesnt help. I think a painter makes a better mapper simply because they know where they want detail and where they dont. Which is the key to good conservative mapping. so... if you want to give it a go, drop me an email and perhaps i have a subject more to your liking. but whats not to like about a flying baby buggy with big coil over shocks and a gun you have to stand up to shoot!! joe

If I could I would but I can't ;D But this aircraft is right up my alley so I hope someone will.

trust me, if I can do it.. ANYONE can. it's a simple process, repeated for every stinking part on the plane. lol I'll even supply directions!!

Hi Joe!
I tried my hand at Gmax mapping once, when I was doing the Dash7 with Milton Shupe. I must say I found it very hard, and as Milton was still developing the model with frequent updates he ended up doing the mapping himself.
Still....
What else do you have? ;D

maybe we could do this right here...
so anyone who doesnt know how to map textures can learn, and more experienced guys can help point us in the right direction.
I'll need to make the source file public (I have no hosting, so that'll be the first hurdle)
you'll have to be patient with me, cuz i only have a few free hours a night, but weekends are mine...
is anyone interested in that idea?

Joe,
I don't know the size of your source files but I may host them for you to share them with everyone, gladly.
I'll PM you with the mail address (gmail, can handle big files)
I'm interested in mapping, if you're thinking about some kind of tutorials.

joao,
lemme look...
Bleriot Der Jager 185 Cessna GUPPY(knock it off) DR-1
those are in the 50%-75% modeled range. As you can see on the SS, the Voisin was 2 days of work. I can model really fast, but all the other FS BS takes the time.
making the 3d model is only 10% of the time involved in an entire FS model. I only really enjoy building the 3d model and all the VC work. (that's why i want everyone to learn how to map... so i dont have to anymore!

Joe, I'll check the others in a while but let me put it like this: The Cessna 185 may be one of the most overlooked aircraft in FS2004. The C185 *is* the bush pilots main tool around Alaska. We had some great models for FS2000/FS2002, Miko Malliniemmi's. We also have the Abacus payware, with a somewhat poor panel, and Lucariny's model, with very poor FDs. A good C185 could/should be a great hit. I painted several already and have a personal FD set that I really enjoy ;D I still lack a proper panel. Will check the others now

man, we all need to pitch in to help you out on finishing these planes joe! I really want all of them on your list, esp. the 185, assuming it has a vc.
