Here's a new project - primarily the "candy spray metallic" - er yes, I know it cr @ p - for now. One thing I remembered about RW paint spraying is that metallic finish is achieved by adding reflective particels to the paint. What I am working on here is to "spray" the metallic effect particles onto the alpha direct. The "red" is 128,0,0 - could be darker. The alpha needs to be lightened... the particles need to be smaller. I am limited to the pixel criteria... Incidentally, the "spinbrush" is solely on the alpha this time - the a/c surface is a flat, dark grey (about 80%).

Progressing slowly, but the next "ideas" are taking shape. I appreciate there will be "inconsistencies" in my trial submissions here - please forgive me for using you guys and gals as a sounding board. As it is, I appreciate and use all advice. In this present project I have not yet used the cowling panel overlap yet, I am aware. Also, I don't think that the sprayed metallic paint finish is going to be a "go" until we can get at least five or six times the DPI rates for skins. The smallest particles are 1 pixel. On a 1024 by 1024 map, we just don't have the level of detail. Same goes for the monitors. so those thoughts are on the slow burner. Notwithstanding, here's a couple more in that direction...

Hi Chris, It's coming out great - though I was enjoying take 1! If you do a google or yahoo image search for "metal textures" (or whatever) it will come up with all sorts of wonderful things! Check this page for instance: weedhopper.org/Art/Textures_Metal.aspMany times, using a rw picture, and then converting it to a seamless pattern, can be helpful to achieve certain special effects. (just thinking out loud ) Joao

Brilliant link Joao - I don't suppose you'll be surprised to hear that that page is now in my favourites.... So, take an aluminium cowling, spin polish it and then send it to the electroplating shop for some anodising. What do you get? This Just in case anyone is wondering, this effort was inspired by a eral world paint I saw a few weeks back: Corvus Corone - a Hungarian UL Enjoy
