How do I go about putting extraneous noises into scenery? Like chickens clucking or cattle mooing, or do they low!? Any advice appreciated.

Lago had a program called FSE that would add sounds to scenery. Unfortunately in order to hear the sounds the end user also had to own FSE. Mauricio Gavioli developed a commercial program called Intelliscene but development is currently suspended www.vistamaresoft.com/page.php?a=1&p=2I don't know of any others.

Tom's right that's one way......The other......Is to attach an effects file to a geometric shape in gmax export and place in FS?. There are a specific number of effects with sounds attached and the ability to attach other sounds to effects file has not (at this time) been replicated. For more informatioin www.scenerydesign.org. Actually, you can do it without GMax, so those who are lost in that program are saved now. ;D
I've been trying to learn how to do it for awhile now, and I have it figured out.
You need a controller fx file and the actual effect file with the sound. The controller defines when it will be activated. They need to be placed at the same spot.
The problem is that if you want to use your custom WAV files, you need to hardcode in a random number and use that to define the sound file parameter in the fx file.
I can't get the default chicken clucking sound to work when I place it where I want it, so I know I won't have luck making my own!
The example sound effects you can use are:
fx_Barnstorm -effect file Cntrl_Barn -effect controller

Froggy, I'm using scruffyduck's LOM / Scenery Maker tool to place the effects. Editing them I just use notepad. For the controller file you can use these parameters: [Library Effect] Lifetime=5 Version=1.00 Radius=200 Priority=0
[controller.0] lifetime=0.0, 0.0 type=3 distance=300.00, 300.00 // Radius you must be in to hear it delay=10.00, 10.00 x offset=0.00, 0.00 y offset=0.00, 0.00 z offset=0.00, 0.00 effect.0=fx_PCN_crowd, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00The actual effects file: [Library Effect] Lifetime=5 Version=2.00 Radius=300 Priority=0 Sound=5 Sound Param=55 //This part is the one I can't do yet
[Properties] Cockpit=1 VirtualCockpit=1 Spot=1 Tower=1 Map=1
