OK, experts.......I am not sure if what I am seeing has been if FS9 since day one or if I did something to cause it. I have a rough 'circle' of LOD13 grid squares 9x9 horizontal & vertical centered on my aircraft that is noticeably lighter than all the rest of the scenery in the area. This rough 'circle' moves with the aircraft. Is this a normal thing?? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Fred Z.

I just saw this Fred, sorry for the delay in answering. I noticed the same thing, but I think this has been noticeable since FS98. It's like a 360* Field Of View, and the Lever Of Detail. It is the local visiual field at 360* globe. Anything outside this circle is at a lower LOD being that it is at a farther distance. In regard to the lighter color, I am not really sure what is going on there, but it might have to do with time of day. Scenery closer to the camera would be brighter, more saturated, more contrast, and sharper than scenery farther away from the camera, hence the circle(globe) you mentioned. If you pan out away from your aircraft you may see this circle, and I assume you are panned out cause you say you can see LOD13 9x9 squares in a circle.
I guess that's the best explanation I can give.

The "lighter colour" can happen with some add-on ground textures especially Grass. I find the "Pic-nic" type 3 grass has the least effect (especially noticable in desert areas). Without any added ground texs there should be no noticable effect.
