Maybe its me.....but after spending countless hours of modeling our projects , I just never seem to fly/enjoy all of our modeling efforts?....Other then test flying/ discovering the quirks of each model we do... I never seem to be much interested in the final results-good-or bad!....just a funny /weird thing from an FS9 modeler....curious to know if some of the MASTERS!....Feel the same?....

I'm no Master but when I was making scenery, that was all I did. I never even flew between airfields, only around the one I was working on. Now I enjoy short flights around Maine and I don't even have all my own scenery installed Too late here to eat but Bacardi sounds good. Maybe I'll make a pitcher of Mojitos

Same here, when I make sceneries I rarely fly there again. I have thought of this before, so I decided to fly at one of my sceneries just to make it more worth-while.....but I just found myself wanting to move on and make more!! I guess that's a designer's life for ya.. (Modeling or Scenery)

During the last 2 years, I spent more time creating\modifying\testing skins rather than flying. Once I finish a repaint, I rarely go back to that plane. Many of the planes I like, I like them more as painting subject rather than for flying: that happens to me with the 90% of the planes I've repainted. I found myself having more fun playing with photoshop layers: I've even bought planes only for the interest of painting them, and not for the "pure joy" of flying.
This is the "Curse" of the artist\modeler\repainter. Once you did the step beyond innocence of mere flying, there's no come back. The creative soul inside you asks more and more, and the player dies slowly. It's part of life, isn'it? we grow up without noticing.
I really enjoy flying only two (or three) models, always the sames ones (and believe me, my hangers are full crowded of planes of all kind with the exception of tubeliners). When I got enough from painting, I fire up the FS and took them for a flight, an enter the "Age of Innocence" again...at least for some time.
Greybeardgil: I am with you, I take the Baccardi, but no the fish and chips, we have some good "krauti und wuerstel" here!

I think it's the same with most creative people, irrespective of what it is that one has created. I like to recreate historical flights and get the great enjoyment out of researching the event: gathering information on the aircraft, the crew, the route, etcetera. Test-flying the route then gives enjoyment and making sure that all is okay before doing the accompanying documentation and putting it altogether as an uploadable file is very satisfying. Once that is accomplished I rarely revisit that which gave me so much pleasure when creating it. Bruce P.S. Whilst you are mixing drinks, I'll have a dry Martini or two, thanks very much.

Flying what's that My versions of FS are never out of Slew mode these days. For the last few months the only time FS is running is so that I can test some software stuff or other. My wife asked me the other day if I still flew the Sim, I said no and I can't remember the last time I did

I actually took a break from the "job" to re-install GW3 today. Can you believe that! I feel like the car mechanic with the car that won't start and has two flats. It's been nuts trying to get this Staerman package done. It was great just to doodle around Floyd Bennet Field!

Me, too, guys, I rarely just "fly" in FS. Just to test or examine for errors.
Best, smyers

Well your responses come as a very large surprise to me. I think God put me on Earth to punish me for the sins of a past life, and the one punishment he bestowed on me was "the voice of desent". When I was working on my Harvard Mako project (a G18S - not D18S) I flew the entire world. It is still one of my favorite flyers. I re-read my stories, rewatch my movies. One thing I discovered by flying (reading, watching) it so much, is how poorly thought out a few things I designed (wrote, filmed) were. These shortcomings really only became noticible after extensive use (or putting it aside for a short while and going back to it to "use" it). An example, I was making a custom panel and I realized that where I had placed gauges were terrible for a smooth scan (when flying). Not very ergonomic... so I rearranged them so my scans were efficiant and linear. This took literally hundreds of hours of flying time to notice then perfect. I guess my feeling on the matter is, "if I do not use the sim as the sim is made to be used, how can I possibly design anythign for it?" I am really only guessing then. My 2C. Shad

no worries Shad....I find your comments interesting, even if I don't know what "desent" means I understand the general sense; each one among us have differents ways of enjoying a game.
