WOW....seems as though I posted the summer season and whish....its rapidly coming to an end!Oh well it has been a very productive one around here at the GAS works. With my buddy SPAD vacationing this week I was determined to knock out the VC cockpit of the ole'PCA-2 with or without eyesite!...Finally my new glasses were delivered and now all is fine again. But at least now I know I can model blindfolded!.It is 99% completed with 99% more to go but within a timely period we just might be ready to Beta Test this sucker and a Labor day weekend release currently looks possible?...but you all know how that goes.Anyways here are a few shots of touring around NYC to tease a bit, notice the frame rates in this area so far....and also notice the KIAS .....back to work for me now and Best Gil

The model is essentially complete and will begin beta testing this weekend. Depending on the results and the how the mods progress, we may release by 9/7, worse case scenario, the week after. The current model supports a banner tow, other mods will be a crop duster as well as liveries of Johnny Miller and Detroit news.
Kobbe has created unique sceneries and missions to help keep all entertained.

We are on the cusp of beta testing this weekend and just need to clean up the VC cockpit and a repaint or two.Personal matters have needed to be addressed at the home front and it looks like we are still going to progress as planned.I can tell you that it is quite the most fun flying machine I have built thus far and is a sure bet to be a favorite for scooting along the countryside enjoying the scenery and the joy of sim-flight!!.... ;D ;D ;D

Do you, Gil and the rest of the GAS crowd realize how hard it is to fly when your palms are all sweaty!!!? Just wondering, but wasn't the rotor pitch controlled by a swivel arm hanging down in front of the pilot?

There are some that are controlled that way, but in the PCA-2 the rotor had no actual controls except a PTO clutch taking power from the engine to begin rotation and a brake to stop it, after flight. Pitch roll and yaw axis are all controlled like a conventional aircraft. Later in the development of the autogiro, most notably the Kellett, A swiveling roto head was used and attitude control was maintained by adjusting the rotor head, much as is done in a conventional helicopter

Aha, I was wondering why the Pitcairn had that big draggy fixed wing attached when it's the rotary wing that provides the lift. Always nice to have roll control!! Love the landing in the video, I can see a repaint in the works. 'Pitcairn Pizza, Delivered hot right to your door!'
