My processor is a 1.8 gig Athlon and I have to forgo high levels of AI traffic or the whole sim creaks to a halt. I run traffic at about 25% but scenery and autogen fairly high. I don't find the Waco pushes the system more than the majority of payware product I own so I wonder what other aircraft, on your system push as hard as the Waco?

I have the same problem, which surprised me. Not sure what the problem is, but would suspeck it is the detailed textures - running about 7-8 fps in Spot and VC - but in 2d it runs 12-14. It acts just like the Robert Sanderson Stearmen, which interestingly are about the same file size 30+ Mb - and, as Roger said, high end payware - some but not all - which is perplexing!! I recently found a Bitmap/DXT3 conversion program and ran the textures through it. Seemed to help some - increased 1 or 2 fps, but where the program really improved the process is in the switching from one view to another - no waiting to feed the textures through - that's nice. I'm running a 1.8 Pentium 4, 128 Gforce 5500 nVidia graphics card, 700+ memory, sound card, etc. Everything is pumped to the max - seems to give the best overall frame rates, no AI, traffic, etc. I really think that the bus speed has a lot to do with different systems and how much data it pumps through the processor(s) that make all the difference, since most new specs for high end payware state 3.0 as optimum. This is an old problem with my system - goes back to before there were even airplanes - let alone flight simulation, but surprised me with the Waco. Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

The model was tested primarily on my machine which is a Pentium 4 2.53 Gig 512 Ram running a NVidia Geforce FX 5500 card. In VC mode I get 15 - 20 fps and in spot except over ORA I get about the same. I have my settings all pretty much set in the middle except AI which is maxed to enjoy the ORA AI birds.
In Beta we did not any comments about fps getting wacked, but I was concerned that older slower machines might have a problem.
The project statistics for the ATO are;
Parts: 279 Polygons: 35284 Vertices: 40232
It's interesting no note that our Bird series, released last summer, has almost the exact same stats with 265 parts 37524 polys and 41100 vertices

When it comes down to it we want our plane builders to push the envelope and that's what the Waco does. Inevitably that eventually means upgrading the hardwear and that's exactly what I intend to do in the coming months. Keep up the good work fellas ;D

So, that pretty much has settled my diagnostic analysis of my diabolical problem with this godforsaken computer from hell that I have - it is absolutely worthless - except for my wife's web surfing. I think I'll give it to her permanently, sell her car, and buy myself a real nice $3,000 computer set-up complete with a backyard shed (that's were I would live if I sell her car) and happily fly myself to never never land . . . Roger is absolutely right in saying that we would rather have planes that are pushed to the limits like the Waco and many, many others then poor quality. This is my computer problem, not the plane. Again, as noted previously, thanks for all the hard work by you and the others involved in this great representation of the Golden Age. Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

HELP! NO GAUGES! What could I be doing wrong? Is the Waco looking for the .gau files in the Gauges folder? If so, they ain't there, they're in .cab files in the Vega's and the Kingair's panel folders. Do I have to extract the files from the .cabs into the Gauges folder? - Jeff Yes, It's one of the first things I did after installing a couple of aircraft that required default gauges...put the cabs into the main Gauge folder.
