Will anyone still stay with FS 9 for a while? I probabally will get a better framerate until I can afford a new computer, with FS9, and stay with it for a while. I am just wondering if I will be left in the Old Hanger Alone while everyone else rushes off to the new one...

I know I won't run straight for the store when it comes out. I want to see what the community thinks of it first.

I will fly FS9 and GW3 for a looooooonnng time! at least one year. I don't think to move to FSX until next.....century?
Actually it depends of two factors for me:
1. Will all those planes and addons for FS9 that I like a lot, work fine in FSX?
2. hardware....same here, I want to know wich the real specs will be.
Just think, about those guys who stll have Fs98 in their sistems...and all those who still design planes and sceneries. Well, May be FSX will have to share the hard disk with Fs9\GW3 for at least next two years-

I think I am going to be one of those people that run straight for the store on the release date . Although, I am sure many many many people will be sticking with FS9, that is until they hear the news of FS X maybe. I am not going to abandon FS9 totally, but I am going to be hooked on FS X for a bit, and maybe fly around in FS9 sometimes too. Well, thats just my 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure I'll get FSX as soon as it hits the shelves (most probably I'll fulfill Bill Gates' plans and get it as Xmas gift, if released on time). Then I'll be using both FS9 and FSX for some time, gradually getting used to this one and allowing for the necessary time to some essential add-ons to come out. I'd say this will last for some 6 months or so. Next, when I know enough about FSX, I'll probably feel confident to tailor it exactly to my tastes, and will discard FS9 completely. Finally, by the end of 2007, I'll probably get a new system capable of running anything twice as demanding as FSX. Hey, I've been there before... Happy landings,

I'll certainly get it but I'm so enjoying GW3 I don't know how I'll give it up if it isn't compatible with FsX?

It'll be intereseting to compare a FS9 setup with say, Active Sky 6.0, Ground environment, FSGenesis mesh, Bill Lyon's water with FSX straight from the box.....

It may be very similar, but lacking anything that FS alters, like if they make a new type of air file. It will most likely be cheaper to buy FS X, than buy all of the addons that you listed, and others. Even if FS X is $80, I am getting it ;D. As Tom said, I should get FS X out of my mind, problem is that its pretty much impossible to get rid of. I would like to forget about flying for a year and a half, then return to it when I am old enough to start flying lessons, but if I did forget about it I would most likely forget about it totally. I have waited 6 years so far, so another year wont hurt I guess .

Hi all,
I am gonna put my head in the engine cowl now. Pls dont press the starter.
Yes I will be buying FS X or whatever its gonna be called. AS soon as I can get a copy.
I wont be leaving Fs9 tho, I love golden wings far too much.
I will tho by the time FS X comes out have a brand new shiny Alien PC with the best kit in it, probably around Nov 06
I do this every couple of years and the "older" pc gets handed down to the junior members of the Franklin Fraternity.
The only thing I am disappointed with (already !!!) is the Jetranger is PINK
All the best to MS in their endeavours
Frank

I'll be buying FS-X immediately, but I suspect GW3 will last a long time too. I will probably buy a new computer (64 bit with Windows Vista) for FS-X and keep FS9/GW3 on this computer.

It pretty obvious to me that I'll have to build a new computer to use FS X. I doubt it will run good enough on my current machine to make it worth wile. With the bills I am paying on my new hearing aid among other things, the possibility of building a new computer this year doesn't look promising, so I'll probably be with FS9 for a while yet.
I'll probably wait and see what FS-X works good with then start collecting the components I need as I can afford them. Even then I won't be leaving FS9 all together. I still use FS8 from time to time.
I have a feeling that add ons from FS9 are not going to be that compatible with FS-X. Also I think it is unlikely that a lot of commercial addon makers are going to give use free upgrades this time around (though I hope I'm wrong), so I have a feeling that a lot of people are still going to be hanging on to FS9 for a while yet. Even if they get FS X right away.

Frank,
You will love Alienware. Thats what my last 3 systems have been & I have nothing but praise for them. Dont know about their tech support though cause I never called them. I guess thats a good sign. ;D
I will also buy FSX soon as it comes out, out of curiosity if nothing else. I will however stay with FS9/GW3 for a long time to come. It wont be till all my fav aircraft/add ons are supported by FSX that I will finally abandon FS9.

I will not buy FS X immediately. I'll wait for a year or so until they get it fixed. Microsoft forces releases of their programs too early to have all the bugs out of it. They do that almost every release. I doubt if it will be compatible with anything but GMAX stuff, if so, I won't buy it. I like Golden Wings too much to lose it by buying the newest trendy thing on the market. There were many gripes about FS9 when it came out, and I imagine there will be about FSX, too. If it weren't for the addons from outside Microsoft that fixed FS9, no one would be using it today.
