I have caught some sort of adventure bug, because I am becoming interested with these Golden Age flights! Flying by headings and old fashioned techniques is fun, especially when it all pays off in the end. So I took up the task of flying the Maddux Air Lines route from Los Angeles to San Francisco, CA. So far I have completed Leg 1, which takes me from LA to Bakersfield. It took about an hour.
Here are the pictures:
Ready to taxi! The hardest part...
Just departing and turning to my first heading.
Weather isn't too bad, I wish it could be better.
Cruising along...
Chatsworth Reservoir is off to the left, folks!
Aha! Santa Clara river.. Though I could bet it is actually dry..
Flying through the crevices of the mountains.
Teton Pass, this will take me in to the San Joaquin valley.
The tall mountains slope downwards towards a vast, flat valley.
Should be about 12 minutes out from Bakersfield.
Finally the weather is clearing up.
There it is! Bakersfield Municipal.
Making a fast approach to make up for lost time...
Wheels down!
Tied down and taking a break until the next 50 minute leg
First time I have flown in the Golden Age with a mission like this. I am having fun to say the least!
I will update as I go along.
