We complete day 15 with a short hop to Ponca City, Oklahoma. It's so flat in this part of the world that I was able to spot the airfield almost as soon as I left Oklahoma City!
I'm telling you that there is NO WAY to miss those letters on the hanger. Now, if they could only make them glow then they wouldn't need beacons at night.
After an uneventful landing I taxi past the hangers. Can you guess which oil company is the main one in town?
Nice view of the terminal building, oil rigs and all.
Found this little station hidden away from the airfield.
Not too far from the air terminal you can see the main headquarters of Marland Refining Co.
If you wait around long enough you just might be rewarded with the sight of liquid gold being sprayed into the sky. An inspiring sight which leads me into a rendition of "The Beverly Hillbillies" song. "Let me tell ya about a story of a man named Jed...."
Keep thy airspeed up, less the earth come up from below and smite thee.
